I try to read this post when ever I am on the Dis. It is very motivating and helps to keep me on track. I have a long way to go in my opinion but have made some very good progress this year.
We bought a temperpedic bed that was no interest but I still always worried I would be one day late and then I would be hit with all the finance charges. So I made the last payment in January (11 months early) and was so happy. I took a job doing taxes this season in order to pay off both kids braces (our portion) because for one thing I really like doing taxes and also because every month the dentist charged our credit card almost $200. While that amount is not a lot so to speak if the card was used for anything else and it had a balance I felt like we were just treading water and not getting anywhere. As for March, we have just paid off our car with our income tax. We only owed a few thousand and I know that I should have put the money down on a credit card but between all of these things I have an extra $700 per month to put on debt and build better savings. I am super excited but still have a long way to go but I feel like I am making progress and that is motivation enough to tackle the bigger bills.
I figure from this point on maybe I would write down my short term goals and post them here for you guys to help me keep fighting the good fight. March goal is to pay off small line of credit. I figure after my recent success I have to keep working toward something to make me feel like I am getting somewhere.
Just keep swimming.
