Has anyone used a Visa Debit card to pick up a rental car at MCO from Alamo? What did they require of you?

I have read and re-read their policy and made 3 phone calls and I am still not certain of what they are saying. All three phone calls were to people who barely understood English! :confused3

Here is what I have from the web site:

"When renting in the U.S., debit and check cards may only be used in conjunction with proof of a round trip travel ticket (airline, cruise ship or train) at time of rental."

What exactly is "round trip"? We have two separate tickets. One coming from Charlotte into MCO (doing daughter's college graduation there first & driving with other relatives to their from our Ohio home) and the other ticket from MCO to CAK (Akron/Canton, Ohio).
Does this matter? Don't some airlines only sell one way tickets?

We do not have or use regular credit cards. We use our Visa debit card like a credit card and if we go over the cash balance then we pay a fee but our bank covers the transaction.

I followed everyone's ideas here and got a great rate for a Mid size SUV from Alamo but now I am uncertain if they will let us pick it up.

I read the cash payment regulations and they are really detailed with a long list of things that we do have but then it says only Compact through Standard vehicles. I am guessing that any SUV would not be included in that. We wanted the room of the SUV plus the prices are better than cars!

Please someone else say that you have rented from Alamo at MCO with a Visa Debit card and it worked! :wave2:

Hi,
You'll be fine, you just need to show them your return flight itinerary.

We've rented with Alamo before with a debit card with no problems.

Thank you Mark! DH says "Semper Fi". :thumbsup2

I have called the MCO office and their national offices way too many times and they have a hard time defining "round trip"!

The last person I spoke with had me tell her my travel plans and she said that as long as I fly into MCO and I have a ticket to fly out of MCO then that is round trip! WHeeeeeooooo! :teeth:

We really did not want to go the cash route because we needed the trunk space offered in the Mid SUV, Equinox, for a wheel chair. Cash only puts you in smaller cars and that would be a real struggle plus the way rates are running the cars are more expensive to rent for a week!

Thank you again! I knew that some Dis Boarder had to have real llife experience with this issue! :woohoo:

I've always used a credit card to rent the car and then payed with a debit card upon return
