So many posters do what I just did. Instead of putting the question or the subject matter in the title line, they carry it over to the text of the message so you have to open to read the rest? It could be something like, Does your dog.....shed? What happens when...there's a power failure? etc. I am sure you get the picture.
I find that it often is a waste of time. Sometimes the subject has no interest or relevance to me, and other times, it is asking a question that I wouldn't know. Why not just put the entire question in the subject line and then elaborate in the text of the message for clarification.

Finally a chance to say it....Dawn, I completely agree with you.:wave2:

Yes, it does bug me. Don't do that anymore  ;) . I think most people do it because they figure people won't read their posts otherwise.

I agree 100% .... I generally ignore threads with ambiguous titles like this.... I'm glad I decided to click on this one ;)

....teasers on the news programs

I'm also glad I clicked on this one. I generally ignore vague titles as well - unless I'm really bored!

I have to admit it bugs me as well, but I'm the curious sort that might click on it anyway. ;) :teeth:

Although I will admit I've probably done that a couple of times in the past, so it can't bug me too much. :p

I don't like those type of subject lines either and would normally pass it by. I only opened this one due to it being an OP by dawnct1 and it is usually an interesting read/topic.

Ugh.... I HATE THEM!

ALMOST as much as the Ladies, Personal question? posts..

Haha! This is the first one like that that I've opened in forever. When I used to open them, there usually wasn't anything very interesting inside and I always felt like I got suckered into wasting my time on purpose, like the joke was on me. :p I just don't bother anymore. I only opened this one because it said, "Debate ..." :p

Darn, and I thought that we would have a debate. I guess it bugs everyone. Perhaps we should respond to those posters with, "gee I would have told you but......"

Why thank you Denise.:D

Nope, doesn't bother me a bit. I even like 'em from time to time, depending. More fun to play with in my head sometimes.

I should clarify, though: The above comments refer only to "just for fun" kinda stuff. If I'm looking for trip planning info e.g., I much prefer thread titles to be specific.

It is a waste of reading most times as you open the thread and there is nothing worth reading it sucks.

I oftentimes will bypass them, however if they have a 'life' to them, I may take a gander. This was worded somewhat more informatively than some. It depends. How that for vagueness? :p :teeth:

Yep, it annoys me. I simply dont have the time to click open all threads that don't interest me, so those threads just don't get opened.

I opened this one expecting a debate =) So it wasn't really the same...

I have cable connection, and i feel sorry for those with dialup that take the time to open those and they're junk inside. I always try to be descriptive in my headings.

I wonder if some people do that so they can get more views...?

Too funny faithinkarma. :p

I agree too, I like when the title suggests what the thread is about. I only looked at this post because it was you Dawn. Usually, I pass right on by em.

It's a big DIS pet peeve of mine. It's especially irksome when the DIS is running slowly and I wait around for a thread to open, only to find it's something I'm totally not interested in .
