Debark One Port Early

Just found this on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection page

https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/de...th green card onclosed loop cruises/related/1

Interesting. Never thought it would be a problem, but I guess it is.

It's only a problem if the passenger embarks in one US port and disembarks in a different US port.

In reference to OPs original question, the PVSA does not apply. The cruise(s) OP asked about were R/T Vancouver B2B with a Vancouver-LA cruise. In this case the passenger would be traveling from a non-US port to a US port. No violation will occur if the US port is SF or LA.

They only question is if the specific cruiseline involved will allow, or be able to accommodate the request.

There shouldn't be a problem at all. If I recall correctly leaving Vancouver you encounter U.S. Customs at the port and are cleared to enter the U.S.A. without any further screening.

And as stated there is no issue with DCL not being U.S.A. registered as you are sailing from Vancouver to LA not Seattle.

Just shoot DCL an e-mail and they should be able to help you out. But again, there isn't anything prohibited this from happening. And in theory, your one party can simply walk off the ship and not return. though, I wouldn't do that.

Just a reminder, OP was asking about a hypothetical cruise.

Here's a hypothetical that I have been wondering about...

How would DCL handle a request to voluntarily disembark early? As an example... Family of 5 books B2B Alaska, then Vancouver to LA. One person in the group has to be back to work early, and debarks in San Francisco; the rest of the group continues on to LA. I'd assume that the person leaving early would have to check out with DCL somehow and clear US customs in SF?

Not something I'm looking to do, but kind of curious.
