Death Week

It's that time of year around here that we locals call Death Week. Lots of Elvis impersonaters and wannbes around. Lots of tourists in the stores. Elvis photo above the fold every day on the front page. Everybody and their brother has an Elvis story. Elvis in lights laser show at the Planetarium. Elvis Mafia reunion on Beale Street. Elvis Day at the Ball park. Etc, etc, etc. Not to sound like Jan Brady but..... "Elvis! Elvis! Elvis!"


Elvis left the Building for good 26 years ago tomorrow.

I thought he went back to his home planet? At least, I thought I heard that in a movie somewhere

Really, though. What a great pr move for him. He stages his own death, goes and losses a little weight, has some surgery, and makes more money know, without all the hassel or the people, and can live in peace. Hey, he might be your neighbor, just you would never know it.

I'd though I'd seen it all till I read today's paper and saw the photo of a British fan's collection. He has a pair of Elvis's briefs, framed and hung on the wall!

I hope they washed 'em first!

One of our local radio stations has an Elvis parade through downtown every August. Nothing like hundreds of impersonators making it impossible to drive through the city!

Another radio station was interviewing some guy who claimed to have one of Elvis' teeth and was trying to sell it on ebay.

Hey, if his own kid believes he's dead, why can't the rest of us believe it?
