Frustrated, tired and more frustrated this afternoon.

Worked last night, slept for 6 hours and woke up to, "hon, come take a look at the front of the truck." Sigh....you know that is never a good beginning of a conversation.

Dh was in a fender bender and our fender is bent. He is going to take it for an estimate, but it looks like we will have at least $1000+ worth of damage. Before I hit the insurance with the claim ($1000 deductible), he will take it for an estimate.

This was his first fender bender ever, but I am still feeling angry and I am sure it is unjustified anger, so I need to vent here.

He was laid of in October and has been working hard to find a new job. I hurt my ankle in September and was out on disability for 7 weeks. DD broke her wrist in two places the day after I hurt my ankle. So we have already been hitting the emergency funds. When I went back to work, my hours went from unlimited OT to sorry you are being canceled for regular shifts because census is down.

Canceling my NY eve plans and going to go work instead, if the census allows.

I need a break from stress for a bit.

What is it they say: "when it rains, it pours"?

Vent away - this is a good place to do it. Hang in there.

:flower3: Hang in there and keep your chin up. Things are bound to get better. I hope you have a wonderful start to 2010.

We hear ya on this has been one crapptacular year. And yes, when it rains, it pours. And it seems to have been coming down in bucketfulls this year.

Last December right before Christmas, water pipes froze and busted in two places. $$$

Jan 16th, DH has to have his appendix removed. Short term disability for 12 weeks. $$$$ on top of the what a joke of STD pay.

April he's laid off for 2 weeks.

May and June - he's laid off for 1 week. Entire plant shut down.

July he's laid off for the month - entire plant shut down.

Aug he's laid off for 1 week - entire plant shut down.

Oct he's on layoff for the month along with 35 other people, when they call everybody in on the 23rd and tell them that they have to perminatly lay off 75 people. Now with the exception of the entire plant shut down, every other layoff, which was 5 weeks, was on a voluntary basis. There were workers that had been out on voluntary lay off oh.....since April - 6+ months they voluntiered to stay at home and collected unemployment. DH stay, working trying to help keep the plant alive and going. But he is one of the 75 they let go.

Since 11/9 - there has only been 10 days that someone in this family hasn't had the H1N1, a head cold, broncitis (3 cases of it), or the cha-cha's.

Highlight of the year - at 41 he went back to college. And because of it, for two years he can collect unemployment without having to look for a job and he won't be eating up his benefits. Once he is done, in two years, while looking for work he can then start in on his unemployment benefits. And that is the only high light of our year.

I fully understand the fustration.

Lots of folks are really suffering these days. Hope some happiness can come to all soon.

First of all,. I've been having one of those days since October, lol. Are you a nurse? When I read census down, I cringed. I've been getting my hours cut at work since Easter. It's been so bad that I've missed entire paychecks because I've been canceled for the whole pay period and I'm supposed to be 40 hours/pp. I guess hospitals all over are feeling the pinch & passing it on to us. I feel for you, you're not alone.

Sounds like the kind of luck we have around here.. LOL..

Sorry..

Hugs to you!

If the vehicle is safe to drive with the dent/bend, then why don't you wait to fix it till later? Maybe you could put a big bow or something over it! :)

I hope you have better luck in the near future. I think we will all be glad for 2010 to arrive for a fresh start!

Yes, I am a RN.

In the past year at work, we have gone from having tons and tons of bonus pay to barely getting two shifts a week. It's insane. I feel for all of the new grad class this year - they started nursing school expecting to come out with their choice of jobs and now not many are hiring anyone, including experienced nurses.

I am hopeful that things will look up in the future - dh is doing his best trying to find a new position, the truck will get fixed and life will go on.

Some day's though, it feels as if the weight of everything just builds to a boiling point.

Hoping everyone's New Year is better one. Thanks for listening to my rant.

I feel you!! And I hope things get better. Hang in there and know that 2010 will be better!! :)
