Not sure if this is the best place to ask this question but anyways.....
Historically, has there ever been any type of package deals offered in and around the dates of Marathon weekend?
I'm looking to book some hotels and wondering if I should lock in to renting from DVC members or book a regular package and hope that some kind of deal is offered later on in the year.

Are you running any of the events? If so, they will offer special deals at the hosts resorts.

I am running and have a runners rate package booked already but I'm wondering if later on this year they will come out with a "special" for the general public...something like free dining or kids play free or something like that...
I have been able to find out the some information on historical promotional dates on mousesavers but they don't include the blackout periods and wondering if anyone knew if the Marathon weekend would be blacked out for any promotional offers.

after going for the last 5 or 6 years, not this year, I never saw any deals for the public.

I think this year there was a general public offer and I know there was a good AP discount, but for us, it was cheaper to rent points. We rented a studio at BWV for 7 nights and it was still cheaper than getting either a studio or standard room at 40% with AP discount. For 2013, we are only staying 2 nights (going on a cruise Sunday :cool1: ) and we just rented a studio at SSR (we are not going to the parks so wanted to be close to DTD) for $300...even with a discount, a mod would be very close to that if not more!

We booked the Poly for three nights over Marathon weekend this year and got 20% or 25% discount. I just checked our booking info, and we booked it in September and I know we used the Disney Visa discount. If I am remembering correctly, the Visa discount came out about two weeks before the general public discount. I think that CR and BC/YC had a 30% discount at this time - not sure on mods or values.

HTH!
