If anybody is thinking of a Nook Color as a holiday gift or even for yourself, Overstock.com has them down to $138.57 if you use coupon code 210574. I've also got free shipping. I didn't enter a coupon code for that; I think it might be automatic for overs over $75. Don't forget to go through ebates for 2% cash back. That extra couple bucks is a nice bonus.
Last year I got my current refurbished Nook from Overstock (thanks to a deal I found on this board) and it's been perfect. They come in the manufacturers box with all the things they come with new. I did have to even use the B&N warranty as my Nook suffered the typical problems with cracking paging buttons that's seen in lots of the standard Nooks and had no problems and no questions asked. They exchanged it without question since it's a known problem with even brand new ones. I'm very happy with it.
I got 2 as gifts for my kids who don't have any kind of tablet like devices either palm sized or otherwise. They don't need the added speed of a Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet so this is perfect. As long as they can get to youtube, email, read books, listen to music, watch movies and download a few apps they're happy. This will do the trick. B&N announced that they'll soon be offering a softward upgrade to allow reading of graphic novels on this device so that's the only thing that the tablet had that they'd want over this one so for over $100 less, it was a no brainer for me.
