Who watched this last night and what did you think? I know they have said it is very true to reality but I guess I didn't think some of the words they used even existed back then. Is it just a Sopranos set in the 1800's? Even though I wasn't sure about it at first I liked the first episode and will probably watch it regularly.

What did you think?

I loved it! It was a little confusing at times but I had my Tivo so I went back and rewatched parts that I didn't follow. Loved the characters, hope they share more of the countryside and their surroundings, it'll make it much more dramatic. The director sure didn't have many pull back shots of things. I read an article about how the show has so much cursing and bad behavior compared to other movies taken place during this era. According to the article historians say that the show is actually accurate and that hollywood has made it seem so dramatic and proper (al la John Wayne effect as they called it) I thought the show was great and can't wait for the next one. Also I didn't think it was anything like the Sopranos with the exception of the language and violence. :teeth:

Yes, we have Tivo as well and had to rewind a few times as well. As with any new show it was a tad hard to learn all of the characters and since they all look similar and are covered in dirt it was even harder. ;)

I have a few favorites already as well. I like Calamity Jane and even though he is the bad guy I like Swearengen too.

I will have to watch a few more shows before I weigh in on this one. I love HBO sunday night shows and am looking forward to the return of Six Feet Under. I do hope Deadwood gets easier to keep up with. I think a lot of the problem was that it was so dark and hard to see many times and many of the characters looked so much alike anyway!

I will have to watch a few more episodes before I weigh in with my opinion, but the foul language was unbelievable!! Even the Sopranos dont swear that much!

Wishing everyone a "magical" day!
