yes! saw it last night. So great! loved it. It's raunchy AF, just like the others. I am not as well versed as many fans on some characters, so missed some references, but over all, very fun and HILARIOUS!!!
Real talk - is it like super raunchy, or is it more like a soft R? Also, and you can spiler tag it - how much X-Men is actually in it, or is there much at all?
Mmm. I dunno then. A friend of mine wants to go to the drive-in to see it again and I am considering doing that. Maybe it's worth a drive-in type of experience. It's not that I'm averse to rated R nor raunchiness - I'm just not sure I like it being intrinsically tied to the MCU.
Let me ask, is Deadpool 2 important to this one? I never saw it. I did see the first one, but it's been a while.
Let me say this in the least spoilery way possible. It felt more like a Fox Marvel movie and not an MCU movie. It was a Deadpool movie with MCU elements sprinkled in but it felt more like a standalone entity if that makes sense. If you grew up on Fox Marvel movies, you should definitely see it. It was the perfect ending to that era.
I don't think you need to see Deadpool 2 to enjoy or get this one but Deadpool 2 is great.

Hey,
I was trying to figure out best way to put it...did some googling, and Several articles say F word used over 100 times too. but besides that, the jokes are very, very crude, very raunchy sex jokes, etc. . I went into this one expecting lots of rauchiness, foul-language, and it delivered.
I don't think seeing Deadpool 2 is a must, but I'd still probably try to watch it before this one, for some context. DS just watched it.
I do think though..,.
having seen the older Xmen movies like you have is much more important to appreciating the movie to the fullest, getting more references, recognizing cameos, etc. for sure having watched those is helpful. Even though I'd watched the trailers, there was at least one cameo I had no idea about and was extra cool. There was also 1 cameo./character I had never heard of, and knowing who that was, might've helped, but at the same time, didn't take away either. It's like watching Mandalorian season 1, and the ending with the Darksaber. We all knew the Darksaber from Clone Wars/Rebels, but one could watch it without knowing that, and still appreciate it just as cool weapon. Does that make sense??? My son hasn't seen any XMEN movies, and he enjoyed it. Have you watched Loki and/or Logan?
Hope if you do go, you enjoy it. I think I was so caught up in the jokes, I didn't pay attention to the story, ha. I would see it again. I know I missed a lot of references. You do have to like that Ryan Reynolds style of constantly breaking the 4th wall.

I watched the Fox X-Men movies up through Days of Future Past which was so bad that I never watched another one, and that includes Logan, which never appealed to me. I am probably knowledgeable to catch most of the cameos, but I guess the question is, why would I care? Even most of the X-Men films that I did watch weren't all that good, so why honor them? I do like that it sounds like it's barely an MCU movie other than the Multiverse/TVA stuff and I assume it doesn't set up major story beats for the universe as a whole.
Dh and I started dating right at the end of 1999. The first X-men movie came out about 6 months later. Dh was a huge comic book fan and I didn’t like them at all. We walked out of the movie and we both loved it. We have seen pretty much every Fox and MCU movie since then up until recently. Not a huge fan of the movies since the end of the Avengers.
We both really enjoyed this movie. I think Hugh Jackman was fantastic. Dh was happy to see Wolverine in the blue and yellow suit. We really enjoyed all the cameos. I don’t mind the violence or swearing but cringe a little at the raunchiness. But I’m a 42 year old female so I’m probably not the best critic of that.
I didn’t really love the newer X-men movies or Logan, so I was very happy this was so much better. I can’t believe Dh and I have been watching these movies for 24 years. Lol. That went quick. We brought DD19 to all of them once she was old enough and now she’s a fan. She saw the showing before us and enjoyed it. DS loves Deadpool and would love to see it, but I’m going to say no way to that one.
We saw it this afternoon. I am am more of he X-men/Marvel fan than my husband, but he enjoyed it although some of the cameos and references went over his head. I read the X-men comics as a teen, watched the animated series from the 90’s and watched most of the Fox movies (not the F4 though).
I loved the movie. I didn’t mind the violence and raunchy jokes - I expect that from Deadpool.
We brought our daughters (13 & 15). Many of the jokes went over the younger one’s head, but the older one understood more. They both enjoyed it - the older one especially which is weird since she isn’t much of a Marvel fan and didn’t watch the first 2 Deadpool movies when we watched them with the younger one a few weeks ago.
Saw today with DH and both DS. LOVED IT!!! Lots of folks laughing and enjoying the movie out loud. I have actually booked to go see it again this week. SO MANY "easter eggs" ~ nods ~ details ~ jokes! I did not know anything going in other than seeing the first two and loved the surprises.
DH had never seen the other ones and thoroughly enjoyed it but as we left "why does he look that way?" Needless to say he's going to watch the other two.
I mean putting popular characters back into leads in MCU movies leads to improvement in box office. Huh who could have ever guessed that this would work?
Of course this is doing well, two popular characters and two very popular actors portraying them. This will be a huge hit, and maybe Marvel is done doing all the other stupid crap.
Sure but at some point you have to get past only doing member berries in sequels and find new stories with new characters. Otherwise you never have new characters who can become favorites like Deadpool and Wolverine.
The next two MCU movies will be very telling on if people are coming back to MCU movies. CA: New World Order looks to be in the vein of Winter Soldier. Thunderbolts could be interesting or it could be the MCU Suicide Squad which has already been done to death.
I wasn't that excited about Fantastic Four but the idea of making it set in a retrofuture 1960s is brilliant. I'm just happy that the Multiverse might be coming to an end.
The multiverse was stupid and confusing and the biggest issue is there are no consequences to anything. Main hero dies, no problem go snag the one from another universe. They also tried to make a bunch of bad and unpopular characters stick, and they didn’t.

Very true but it's hard to move on from Endgame which was the ultimate culmination of 10+ years of movies. I don't know what other major plot lines they could work towards besides Secret Wars and Kang. Doom will be a great villain. I think Doom will be a perfect way to tie off the Multiverse and get back to fewer MCU timelines.
Honestly, I'm glad we're getting more grounded MCU movies again with Cap and the next Spiderman. It's why I enjoyed Falcon and Bucky, Hawkeye, and thrilled Daredevil is returning. I don't mind the cosmic stuff but I much prefer grounded on Earth stories. The problem is those have been done to death.

While I agree ont he Multiverse thing, they also have to take swings with the lower-tier characters. I mean, Guardians of the Galaxy weren't popular, like, at all. They were very niche, and yet they hit BIG. Black Panther was a hit. Ant-Man was a hit. They're not all going to be huge, but you never really know. I mean, I had 100% thought GOTG was going to land with a thud - I was wrong.
