Dead Man's Chest Not for Little Ones

If t his gets shut down, can we all put "Part of the POTC: DMC craziness" in our siggies? :teeth: Like the so-called picnip thread that I completely missed because I was on vacay and it got closed down before I got back.

My son who's 4 1/2 loved the first movie. We took a gamble and decided to let him see the second one with us. We made an agreement with him before hand that if he thought it was too scary or he didn't like it, we would just leave. Not a big deal. Well, he ended up LOVING it. He wasn't scared at all. I had thought that some of it would be too intense, but he just liked seeing the pirates so much. So I'm glad it worked out with him. Also, I saw MANY younger children in the theater (and it was a PACKED LIKE SARDINES theater). Never once heard any crying or frightened children. Son now cannot wait for the 3rd movie to come out. He has his heart set on being a pirate for Hallloween.

My mom saw it with my older two age 9 and 13, for them it was fine. She said she was glad she didn't bring my 8 year old though because she would of been freaked out. I think it all depends on the child and not the age.

I took my sister and her best friend (both 13) to see this because we all loved the first PoC. They love Johnny Depp and I love Orlando Bloom, so there was no way we were missing it! My sister and I are both BIG scaredy-cats, I'll admit that. We don't even like the PoC ride much.

That said, nothing about the movie was scary to us, but I do agree that it isn't for young kids. The opening scenes with the pirate getting his eyes poked out and the heels dragging grossed me out and I wouldn't want to let a young child see that.

i agree with monique who said it depends on the child. it wasnt that scarry and it wasnt gorey

:tiptoe: Scooting over to the Bad Parent category... I took my DS (6) to see POC! :ssst:

I guess I should get ready now for the evil things he's going to do in the years to come...

I don't think this movie will cause my DS to become evil. I also know that he KNOWS the difference between reality and fantasy.

It's truly up to each parent and your opinion should be based on your child, not mine. Ok.... how long before this gets shut down.... 5....4....3...2...1

Love ya! Mean it!! :grouphug:

Can I sit next to you in the Bad Parent category? We were at my parents' home when POTC2 opened, and my mom (overprotective as she is with the grands) took everyone to the drive-in to see the movie on opening night. Our biggest POTC fan was...my almost 3-year-old DS. He LOVED it! In fact, he's now sporting a new poster of Captain Jack and Will in his room, since that was one of only two requests for his upcoming birthday. Big sister (age 7) also enjoyed it and has a poster of Captain Jack that I swear I'm going to steal someday. :teeth:

It all depends on the kid. I know teens that wouldn't be able to handle this movie, and I also know young ones that haven't have a problem with it at all. We knew that if DD or DS got scared, we could just take them to the playground while the rest of our group enjoyed the movie. Seeing it outside also lessened the impact of some potentially scary scenes, too. However, they've since seen it again with Dad at an indoor theater, and loved it just the same.

Bracing for the flames at the trauma I've caused my dear children...

Oh my...your mother is TERRIBLE.

But she can have a ride in my handbasket to hell for free. There's lots of room. :rotfl2:

We've taken both of our DD's (8 and 12) to see it three times. They both love it. We've never heard any children crying, or seen anyone leaving!

select----> The cage scene with the birds eating the man's eyes out.

But it happens really fast. It's not like it drags on and on.

I saw the movie with a large group of people, one being as young as 7. She did find until the end. The movie is just a little too long for most kids that young. None of the gory parts seemed to bother her though.
