I went to see the movie this morning with my father and 9 year old sister. If you are a parent with any viewers under the age of 10 or 11 i recommened a lot of caution. I know that the movie is rated PG-13 but the movie is full of some bloody and gruesome parts. I would say that you should see it first. I found my sister just closing her eyes during these parts. Otherwise the movie is amazing and really well produced. If you have not seen it and are an adult I recommened seeing it NOW! What I liked is that you didn't need to see the first to understand this which I was imagining if I had not seen it.

I don't remember any bloody and gruesome parts. Did I forget something or have I just become accustomed to seeing things like that in movies. :confused3

My DD7 loved it, and she is usually quite squeamish. There were 2 parts where I attempted to cover her eyes, but she pulled my hand away... towards the beginning, there was a part where if I remember correctly, someone's eye got poked out. I know it was something to do with an eye. (not the guy from the 1st one whose eye kept falling out, that was more funny where this was more just for the ick factor.) Also when they open the chest & pick out the beating heart, I thought she'd find that gross but she just said it was cool.

I thought the beginning scene with the eyes being pulled out of the pirates fright full for even me.

Um...isn't POTC:DMC rated PG-13 anyway? :confused3

Which, in my mind means they ain't seein' it unless they are at least 13 years old and ready to handle it at that point.

But that's JMO. YMMV. See dealer for details. Prices and restrictions may vary. Tax title and license not included. Not all makes and models may be available at this time.

My dd9 saw it and didn't mention the gross parts.....The beginning eye ball thing did give me the willies though

There was a girl with her parents in front of us that was around 11 or 12 that ended up leaving because she was so scared. I had a six year old boy on my right who thought everything was "way cool". I'm sure it depends on the kid, but there were some scary scenes in there.

We took our DD6 - she LOVED it!!!

I tried to cover her eyes for the bird scene in the beginning, but she wouldn't let me. :rotfl:

The credits weren't even done yet & she was asking me when we can see it again!

When we went, it was to a matinee - there were a LOT of kids in the under 10 crowd - the only sound from the audience was a group of about 10 idiot teenagers who were sitting in the middle of the row who kept getting up & down & going in front of us throughout the whole movie!

We didn't see or hear anyone crying or showing signs that they were scared.

The same holds for the show before ours - we were there to see them leave. Again - no one came out scared or with their eyes red from crying. The kids who came out from that show were also saying cool, awesome, etc.....

Yah..that part and the guys heels being dragged. That was a bit over the top for me!!

If you can get past the prison scene parts, it is not tooo bad, depending on your tolerance level.

We're in the bad parents club but DD 3 loved it, and DD 1 hardly noticed (fell asleep)....I think DD 3 thinks we are pirates anyway....seriously!

I also think it depends on the kid. There were quite a lot of little kids in the theatre when we went including a girl who was probably about four/five in front of us that was fine during the whole thing!

I didn't like the eye poke thing and the scene with William Turners Sr. and Jr. was a bit brutal. But I've seen it twice now, so I guess it doesn't bother me enough to stay away!!! Where's that monkey? I NEED to SHOOT something!!!

I have not seen the movie, but my DH took DS (10) today and DS loved it. So I really think it depends on the child.

It depends on the kid I think. DSIS(8) didn't want to see it because she said it looked to scary in previews. DBRO(2, almost 3) LOVED it. He did climb on my mom's lap and held her hand a little, but afterwards he couldn't stop talking about how good it was and saying "Captain Jack Sparrow... this and that".

DD also had a good time at the movies, but that's because she's only three months old and slept through it. ;)
