DDs taking me to WDW...packing?

Florida can vary much more than Anaheim. we went in January for Marathon weekend and I told my wife to pack for "30 to 80" and we got: 37 to 72.

at least the water will be warmer than Pismo... bring layers, bring a hat, bring sunscreen.

Because we are family. :grouphug:

Things that are on my WDW list that I don't always bring to DLR.
  • Something if it rains
  • Battery charger for phone
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Refillable water bottle
I just have to say, I love this response so much. Of course the trusted “friends” on this board are the right people to ask. ❤️

You guys are the BEST!! I read through the responses and packed with fingers crossed, but it was soooo helpful to have all of the suggestions and recommendations for guidance.

Made it to Pismo! This is my WDW bag but I'm thinking of switching it out to my larger Pismo Beach bag. What do you think?

I could do my week long WDW trips in a carryon suitcase, but I bring the bigger one. That way I can pack a few more layering options and have more room for the souvies that I will want from Flower and Garden. I only bring one loungefly and then about 4-5 pairs of ears too.

We always find so many souvies unique to the WDW parks so more room is always better. :)

Thank you! I knew I could count on you guys to encourage my need to find room for souvenirs 🤣. I'm going to take the bigger bag 😊.

Hi, Everyone!! Got back from our whirlwind trip last night. I'll give an abbreviated report.

After our celebration of the twins' 22nd birthday in Pismo Beach, twin 1 went back to San Luis Obispo (couldn't come on the WDW trip due to finals), twin 2 (I'll refer to her as C) drove up to her place in San Francisco and flew from there, and older DD and I (I'll refer to her as A) drove to her place in Irvine then to the Orange County airport to begin our flight to Orlando. We left at 8pm with a short stopover in Las Vegas, where we met up with C and traveled on to Orlando. We got there at 6:00 AM. It was actually very easy as we all slept most of the way!

We checked into our hotel (Pop Century) and headed off to the park! We had reservations for Animal Kingdom that day. Got on the bus and off we went. I was pretty awestruck by the size of the resort! It was a little drizzly but not bad and was kind of cloudy but not rainy by the time we got into the park. What a fabulous place! We had a wonderful time. Did the safari and all the big rides and we later agreed that the thing we liked most at WDW as far as rides was Expedition Everest. We enjoyed making faces under the black lights in the line :D . We all thought the park was beautiful and amazing. We closed out with a nostalgic meal at Rainforest Cafe. We were all tired so we headed back to the hotel and had a rest. Afterward, we headed over to Hollywood Studios. It was awesome to ride Tower of Terror. We decided to ride Rockin' Roller Coaster (?) which the girls loved and so did I until it actually took off. I'm a huge coaster fan but this one was bashing my head back and forth and it really hurt. I had my head all the way back but it didn't help, maybe because I'm short or because I was in the very back seat or a combo? Anyway, I felt really weird afterward and as fun as it seemed, it wasn't worth the bashing. DDs didn't experience that but they are both tall. My head was banging side to side against the rubbery things and I couldn't do anything about it.

Next day we tackled MK and had another great day. Rode all the main things--I really wanted to go on Tron. Did not disappoint, though we did have a very long wait, but that wasn't a surprise. Loved experiencing the differences in the rides at WDW vs DLR and thought their HM was cool. C began to feel "off" so we went back to the hotel. I hadn't brought a thermometer but she was obviously not feeling well and seemed pretty warm. She wasn't hungry and just wanted to sleep, so she told us to go do whatever we wanted and she'd get in touch if/when she felt like joining us. A and I went back over to Hollywood studios and rode ToT a few times and Slinky Dog. THAT was unexpectedly fun! I loved it. We decided to go back and see how C was doing. She was fast asleep and felt much hotter than earlier.

The next morning, A and I went over to the lobby store and bought some juice and light food. We stayed with her but she asked us to go to the park because she just wanted to sleep and be left alone. We told her to call or text us and we'd come back to check in. A and I went to Epcot and walked around but the weather was miserable--downpour that just kept going, and even though we had full rain gear on, it wasn't fun at all. We eventually gave up and went back to the hotel. C was asleep. She had checked in for her flight the next day and was adamant that she was going home (she had school and work). Next morning it was a huge relief when she was much better and we all were able to board our planes and go home. I'm sad that C couldn't do everything with us but it was such a wonderful treat they gave me, taking me to WDW!

Edited to add that we all 3 went to Disney Springs and had a nice meal there.

I'll post some pics a little later.

I’m so glad you enjoyed the trip and got to do so many wonderful things! I hope your daughter is feeling better. It’s never fun when you get sick while on vacation.

Glad you had a fairly great time, happy all of you didnt get sick too.

Wasn't Tron just amazing??? I was a "one and done" but SO GLAD I did do it once. Slinky Dog and 7DMT are my two fave coasters and I wish we had them at DL. Too bad about the rain but it's pretty typical in Florida I think. We spent many a spring break Feb.-April with soggy shoes and smelling musty LOL.

But so glad you got to spend time with your daughters and got to experience a taste of WDW!

I've been so curious to see how you liked WDW! I'm sorry C wasn't feeling better but thank goodness she was well enough to take her flight home.

I'm glad you had fun and can't wait to see the pictures.

That was a whirlwind trip for sure, @DizMe! Glad you had a good time apart from the rain and concern about your daughter.

Expedition Everest is my fave, too! I have two souvenir yetis I bought there: one about eight inches high with adjustable arms and legs (my house yeti) and one about four inches high with a keychain hook (my travel yeti). Oddly, they're both white, like the Abominable Snowman at Disneyland's Matterhorn, rather than brown like the yeti on EE. I have no idea why. I got them at WDW years ago; maybe by now Disney is selling more accurate yetis at WDW.

Wowza! That was a quickie! Glad ya got a lil taste of the good ole World! Sounds like you really maximized your time. WDW has beautiful parks, that’s for sure.

Bummer about your daughter being under the weather for the trip, but glad y’all made it back safely. 💕

Glad you were able to visit all four parks and ride so many of the only in WDW rides. Sounds like you packed a lot into your days there.

Sorry C didn't feel well. Hope she's feeling better now.
