DD's last High School Soccer game tonight - Lost in playoffs, so sad!

Horrible night. They were seeded 5th and the 12th seed team came to play them in a playoff game for the state championship. Pouring rain, freezing cold. Double overtime, then penalty kicks. DD is a goalie. It was so stressful and they lost 4-3! We're all stunned and she's so upset. Suddenly it was her final high school game! Please send pixie dust her way! I know it's only a game, but when you're 16 and the entire school is cheering for you and you slip in the soupy mud in front of the goal and the ball dribbles in, well, you can imagine!

Aww, what a bummer.

I remember my last high school volleyball match my senior year (not the state championship, but the beginning of our regionals)...I was so sad it was over.

How heartbreaking. We're big time into soccer, so we've been in those types of situations before. I know it's particularly difficult when it comes down to a shootout, especially for the goalie. {{{Hugs}}} to her.

We have HS playoffs coming up.

Oh the poor kid. DS is a U14 keeper (he's the smallest on the team, but the only one who'd do it, so he's the #1 keeper). PKs are SO stressful to the moms and dads.

Hopefully a good night's sleep, and maybe some ice cream will help. That was DS's coach's advice after a game last year where his defense fell asleep, and they got shelled 12-0 in an indoor game.

What a bittersweet ending to her HS career.

Thanks everyone! Ice cream (and tacos) was definately on the menu tonight. It was brutal watching this unfold from the sidelines and I know her little heart was pumping a mile a minute. I thought I was going to be sick from nerves! We've been talking about it and she's doing better - getting ready for basketball in 2 weeks. Here we go again...
