Thanks for sharing. My dd turns 1 in 2 weeks and we too are doing a Mickey theme. She can't get enough of him already!!!
How did you do the cookies? Icing?
Great and adorable idea...thanks!
Thanks! I had bought a Mickey cookie cutter when we were at Disney on our last trip and just used a basic sugar cookie recipe. For the icing, I used this recipe:
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 teaspoons milk
2 teaspoons light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
assorted food coloring
DIRECTIONS
In a small bowl, stir together confectioners' sugar and milk until smooth. Beat in corn syrup and almond extract until icing is smooth and glossy. If icing is too thick, add more corn syrup.
Divide into separate bowls, and add food colorings to each to desired intensity. Dip cookies, or paint them with a brush.
I used vanilla extract instead of almond because of the little ones not being allowed any type of nuts. I found this recipe on the internet and it worked out really well because it dried nice and we were able to stack the cookies without the icing smearing. I did have to use a lot more milk than what the recipe called for but it wasn't a problem, I just put enough in until it had a nice consistency.
Let me know if you have any questions. My DD LOVES Mickey and Minnie so she had a blast. I bought little party favor Mickey ears for all of the kids and we gave out Mickey treat bags and had all sorts of mylar Mickey birthday balloons. It turned out really nice! The 1st birthday is so much fun! I'm kind of sad it's over because it's hard to believe she's 1! Good Luck with everything!!!!!
