DDP with an under-3

I'm still trying to figure out how the under-3 crowd works, even though I did the DDP last year.

For "family-style" meals--they list a flat price for kids 3-9, and some seperate items available for them (for us, we're going to 'Ohana and Garden Grill). Am I correct to understand, then, that I can order something from the kids' selection for the toddler? Would that also be true if we were paying OOP--if we had an under-3 with us, they could order, say, macaroni and cheese and not just eat the shared selection?

TIA

I am unclear as well. We will have an "under 3" with us. What do they eat? I'm sure she will not want mac n' cheese at every place we eat. I assumed she got points like we did. We are going during free dining so, I didn't even realize she didn't have points until I went to pay off the trip. Last time we went she stayed at home w/ Nana so, I was unaware that "under 3" do not get points.

I think that any restaurant that has a set-price for children will serve your under-3 children something for free. If you go to a regular restaurant and order something for your child you will be charged for it. Your child is allowed to eat off your plate for free. I would bring a PB&J with you just in case.

My experience with DP with under 3 year old twice....my understanding and experience is this - if you order anything off a menu - you pay for it. However, if you get stuff family style to your table (as in - you didn't order it - it just 'comes out') OR if you go up to a buffet to get stuff, they do not count your under 3 year old as even at the table, so they won't get charged for anything.

At any restaurant that you order off a menu - if you want something separate for your toddler, you pay for it. If you want to share your own food with him or her, you are only paying for the one meal that you ordered (for yourself) and shared with her.

So- IMO - everything you order will be charged to you, while everything that just 'comes with' coming to that restaurant and paying the set fee will not be charged for an extra person for the under 3 yo.

HTH!

That is correct.

Family style and buffets - no charge for under 3
TS eat off parent plate free, order meal, charge

beverages have had mixed results, some places charge and some do not. Plan on paying and be pleaseantly surprised if there is no charge.

Under 3 is not on DDP so no credits for under 3.
Hope that helps!

'Scuze my denseness here for a second, but I've been home sick with a fever and the neurons aren't all firing tonight.

So for the family style, where they list an adult menu and kids' menu (like Garden Grill), she'll only be able to eat from the adult plate, they won't bring out any of the children's options for her? (We have two adults and two "disney adults", so the rest of the family will be eating off the adult plate).

I just want all my ducks in a row. Garden Grill doesn't list any individual kids' stuff that I could pay OOP for. (I have the world's pickiest eater, we'll do some buffets, but I think we'll be stuck buying mac-n-cheese for her elsewhere).

I'd plan on paying for it. But if you ask for **just** the mac & cheese, you may not be charged the $11.99 (or whatever the kids meal is) Ask your server.:goodvibes

We've eaten at Garden Grill and Ohanas a few times with our DD who will turn 3 in July. Eat time we have eaten at Garden Grill (most recently at the beginning of March), we have been offered the kids selections for her and in fact the chef has made her a seperate meal because we are vegetarians and she has an egg allergy (so the mac and cheese is out). We have never been charged for her meal at GG.

We've had mixed experiences at Ohanas. If your child has no food restrictions, he or she should be able to eat off your plate or the platters of food that they bring easily for free. We have to order a kids meal (grilled cheese) for DD when we go there since there is really nothing that she can eat. Out of the three times we have eaten there, we were not charged twice because she was under 3, but were charged once. I guess it just depends on your server.

Last year when we were there for my daughters second birthday, she was never charged even for drinks. She ate off our plates at 50's, split the chicken and rib meal with me at bbq tree at AK, and split at princess dining. At family style she had her own plate and was never charged. This year in Sept she will have her own credits because she's a big girl!!!!
