DDP w/ Dec. 31st check-in

This may be a very silly question but here goes......

If you have a Dec. 31st, 2007 check-in date and are using the current DDP, I assume that the plan will stay the same for the length of the stay???

I assume this b/c 2007 package rates dont change if your package was booked for a 2007 arrival even if you stay over into January 2008.

Can you imagine the confusion for the servers when some guests are on the "old" plan, and some guests are on the "new" plan. Of course, if you read all the recent threads there dont seem to be too many guests that plan to use the 2008 DDP. We planned to try Deluxe for our Jan. trip when I realized that we actually check-in on Dec. 31, 2007.

Can anyone confirm? TIA!!!

Doesn't the actual DDP plan remain the same its just that there may be an increase in cost? The servers are basically looking at a point system. So many snacks, counter service, and dinners. They don't know about the costs but I would assume that if the structure of the plan changes that could possibly create a problem.

The rumored change to the "new" DDP would remove the appetizer and the gratuity and reduce price by $1. Just seems like it would create extra work for servers as they will be explaining stuff over and over. I remember the first couple of times that we used the plan, we had questions about how to work it.

I think you are going to have to wait until the 2008 DDP is announced to know for sure. In the past, the plan has just carried over, but with the fundamental changes this year it may not.

Also, it's a technical point, but we don't actually know yet that DVC owners will be eligible for DDP in 2008. My guess is we will, but we don't know for sure.

It is a technical point but one that needs to be made.

I would assume that we will be able to get it also......but you never know.

I am not trying to start any rumors or stir the pot. Just saying that it is a point that needs to be made. Until it is announced we are able to get the plan anything is possible.

Did get confirmation that the Dec. 31st reservations for 2007 packages and DVC stays will carry the "old" DDP thru the reservation. If your check-in is on Jan. 1, 2008 then you would be on the "new" dining plan, assuming that you elected that option. I could not imagine that they could switch the plans during a stay but you just never know!

Sure do hope that we will get to keep DVC access to the DDP. It may not always be the best financial value for our trips but sometimes the pre-paid convenience is the greater value.

We will give the Deluxe Plan, assuming that DVC can have it, a try for our Feb. trip instead of the Dec./Jan. trip.
