DDP substitutions

I have a question about substituting food on the DDP. I know we get the entree, dessert and drink. But my mom and I aren't huge dessert eaters (I know, what's wrong with us right??) and I was wondering if restaurants would allow us to get a appetizer instead of the dessert? Most apps are the same price anyway.....usually in the $7 to $8 range. Anyone know if this is possible?

It would make a difference if we took the dining plan or just stuck all our money on a card.

Thanks:)

no, i don't think they will let you do that. :( sorry.

Sorry...but swapping a dessert for an appetizer is not permitted under any circumstances (including medical conditions). You can ask for an alternative dessert, like fresh fruit or sorbet, but you must use your dessert entitlement for dessert.

thank you for your quick reply:)

No medical reasons.....just fussy and not too keen on desserts every day. Call us weird:)

It kind of makes the decision easier for the DDP. BUT doesn't stop us from eating at all the great places in the parks/resorts:):)

I don't use DDP and that doesn't stop me from eating anywhere. One does have to realize that there are some limitations and tradeoffs that come with choosing the DDP.

There are even some really good restaurants to try (mostly at the Swan and Dolphin) that don't accept DDP.

I think I can guess the answer to this, but would like a confirmation.

If I want to substitute the entree couse for an appetiser at a ts credit meal, will this be permitted?

I prefer the appetisers to the mains on many menus, plus I don't think I could eat a main and a dessert.

I know this may not be getting the max value out of DDP but as it hasn't cost me much thats not really my main concern.

There's no logical reason why a restaurant shouldn't do this, but it turns out to be one of those "it all depends on the server/restaurant/date/phase of the moon/whatever" issues.

Never hurts to ask (and they may even bring out an "entree sized" portion of the appetizer), just don't count on the answer being "yes" at any given place or time.

Even though it seems logical, it may not always be allowed. I know at Chef's de France they wouldn't allow it. We were on the DxDDP and they would not let me get two appetizers, instead of an appetizer and entree. They said I had to use the plan exactly as it was stated (1 appetizer, 1 entree, 1 dessert, and 1 nonalcoholic beverage).

Why not skip the DDP? We never use it since we prefer to eat what we like, not what Disney thinks we should. If you aren't eating dessert every night, try adding up what it would cost you just for meals and drinks.
