Just back and enjoyed some great restaurants because we were on the DDP (le Sellier, Concourse, Narcoosee). I know the controversy over the using children for adult, but wanted to express that upon check-in the CM suggested just that. And at first I was thinking that it didn't seem fair, but after some consideration, we decided to pay for the children OOP on a couple of occasions - (none buffet dining).
We ended up spending on average ~$80 OOP for wine and 3 children dinners. (note that my youngest is under 3, but at table service that weren't buffet we ordered him a dinner - so we paid.) So in reality, although we may have stretched some of our table service, Disney is still making money on us. Secondly, although it was "Free Dining" our package cost us $700 more, since we had to for go the AAA room only discount and buy one-day park passes that we didn't need. (had left over park hopper from prior year visit that was cut short).
The DDP is a nice way to try restaurants you might otherwise not.
