RUMOR MILL
(where everything is pure speculation)

• According to a conversation going on over at the WDW Magic board: " August 19th, all Disney Dining Packages (quick service, dining, deluxe, premium, platinum) will be able to be reloaded for the meal and snack portions after arrival. You will only be able to reload after one full day of coupons have been used." If you continue through the thread, a cast member working at the Poly claims this is available now but will not be available to those on the free dining plan. No official word on this, though.

Why not just make it available for everyone to purchase?

Goes back into how they ultimately can make more money off of each guest, diminishing the real loss of the discount to begin with. First, they force you to stay on property which creates its own profits.....then they require that you purchase park tickets, again increasing profits.....

By giving certain benefits to on site guests, it helps keep the illusion and mystique of staying on property. I doubt many of your off property guests would actually want to purchase it. Look at Magical Express, it is all designed to keep you on site and not need to rent a car or leave.

Prices:

QSDDP: $39.99 per adult and $19.99 per child.
DDP: $61.99 per adult and $20.99 per child.
DXDP: $126.99 per adult and $33.99 per child.

still nothing official... did you get these prices off that other discussion board where the rumor started?

honestly, with those prices it would be a better deal or at least break-even for my family of five (one's under 3) to add an extra night (if staying at a value in value season, esp if on free dining) and get an extra night of dining that way... i'd also have use of my room 'til my evening flight time!

At those prices, it stinks. I would want to just reload by the credit, not an entire day's worth of credits, since I do not need additional quick service or snack credits, just an extra table service credit for the days I use 2 TS for a signature rest. instead of just one

Hold on here the Ddp with your resort ressie only cost 42 bucks a night .So why would I want to pay 62 to reload when I can pay out of pocket for a meal and still have money left to buy a tshirt.

ITA, that makes no sense. Might as well go with the DxDP from the getgo.

We don't know where those prices are coming from. We'll just have to wait and see what Disney puts out... if anything. Remember this is only rumour.

I personally would hope that either to allow addition by credit or have the prices be in line with what the per day pricing is that already exists. Oh, and I hope that they allow add on to FD situations as well.

But ... like the rest of y'all, I'll have to wait and see.

This whole thing just sounds like some serious chain-yanking. The "prices" seem to confirm that -- they're so ridiculously high that it seems like this is just a hoax to see who will fall for it.

It will be interesting to hear what the prices are once some Dis-er has tested the system and reports back. ;) Which shouldn't be too long. :rotfl2:
Could be they are offering these credits. However pricing them high enough to compensate for the extra last minute handling and system costs. Or even offering the option, but yet pricing it enough to deter it too. :confused3 Of course, there are those who will pay whatever without blinking an eye.

So $166 for the prototypical Disney family of 4 (2A, 2C) on the DDP. OOP DDP, that family would need to spend $167 on a TS/QS/Snack to make it worthwhile. At TC (which I believe is the most expensive QS, you are looking at $13.99/7.99). At H/B during F/W, you are looking at $7@. $72. That leaves $95 min spend at a TS to get value. And remember, that's a best case QS/Snack scenario. People are just going to go OOP. On FD, the value prospect is even worse.

This can't be real. $62 for the dining plan? If I assume $3 for a snack, and $15 for a TS meal - that's $44 for that TS meal of drink, meal, dessert. That doesn't even seem like anything any sane person would spring for.

I just don't buy it. Has an announcement been made? Today was the day OP stated it would happen.

Hopefully somebody is down there now and will report back soon with everything. If it is done right, it could be a big boost for the to make more money off of us!

Central reservations, the main dining line, guest relations, and the Poly front desk all said this was NOT possible.

But - it wouldn't hurt if a few more people would call a resort front desk to ask. :)

i'm planning to ask when i get there later today... we could use one more set of credits, if the price is right!

Give us a report of what you find out...and have a WONDERFUL time at Disney World...give Mickey my Love:love:

Anything is possible. Tickets can be upgraded, extensions added for resort stays, dining reservation changes, discount coupons for various things so it would be possible to just add something on to a Dining Plan. Maybe the system would need reworked to allow it but it would be possible if they wanted to do it.

Currently not possible might have been a better answer :)
