DDP question for split stay

I am taking my two youngest daughters next March on our first DVC stay. We had to book a split stay due to availability and I was considering the DDP for the first part which is two nights. We arrive late the fist night so no real chance to use credits. If we are booked into our new room on the third day, can we still use the credits attached to the first two nights until the end of the day? The plan would only be of any value if used for buffets as my youngest just turned ten and is now considered an adult in Disney's eyes.
