Is there any penalty to not showing up for a reservation?
we have then dining plan on our reservation, and I have made several dining reservations for each day, If we choose not to go to breakfast one morning is there any penalty to not showing up, I am thinking no, Am i wrong?? Thanks for your help

I haven't heard of anyone actually being charged for not showing up unless some of them were two credit meals then they might charge it. but if you know you are not going to go it is common curtesy to cancel ahead of time so others could get the meal. and also-they have said they are canceling meals if one is booked too close to the other. so only the newest one is still reserved. If implemented I think it is great because it keeps people from making different reservations and then deciding at the last minute which one they are in the mood for. It free's up reservations for others.

No penalty unless it is somewhere the requires a Credit Card deposit. I would try to cancel if you can, just in case another family is trying to get in.
Have fun.

As others have already said there is no penalty but I would suggest you either stop by or call and cancel the other reservations before hand. Many families wait a long time to eat at some of the nicer spots. Your cancellation would free up space much faster.

Akershus and California Grill require a credit card guarantee. If you don't show up for those and don't cancel, you'll be charged.

MS told me that if there are too many reservations at similar times they may go ahead and cancel ALL reservations.

Thanks so much, I def plan on calling to cancel so anyone waiting can have it, I just wanted to make sure that if for some reason i didnt get a chance to call, or the line was busy or something, that there wouldnt be any penalty.

No i dont have That many reservations, just a table service for breakfast and a table service for dinner everyday. I was just thinking we may not go to some of the breakfasts.

I def will call and cancel if I can, because I know a lot of people are trying to get in. Thanks for all your help.

:)

As everyone has mentioned, the only ones with penalties is the one that require a credit card. When I called to change ressies, they were able to give me a list of my ressies and found some ressies (that I had originally cancelled, but was not done) and asked me which one I would like to keep. I don't think they like the idea of having more than one ressie at similar times. I had two ressies in one day for dinner and one I cancelled and the other one I didn't even make...so I have no idea what happened there.

Anyways, I am one of those who cancel ressies as soon as I know for sure that I will not be using it so it can be given to others. I would hope the same courtesy.

I understand that it's difficult to know where you will be and that's understandable, but there's quite a few people desperately trying to get ressies. When I cancelled my Coral Reef ressie to change it to another day, the CM had told me how much someone would appreciate this. I suppose she mentioned it because it was sold out for that day.

By the way, if you know where you will be, you can still cancel it at guest relations and they will promptly put it back in the system and hopefully someone can make use of it. I had gone to change one of my ressies for the next day at MK and it so happen that the lady next to me had been wanting a reservation for that same location and time and as soon as CM cancelled it the CM next to me said to the woman (she was somewhat distraught) that a ressie has just come up and she could have it. Believe me, she was very very happy. The CM assisting me had overheard and mentioned it was me, (although, I didn't do much) she came over and thanked me. But I told her that she didn't have to thank me, I don't really think I did much. But she had said that some people don't take the time to cancel so the ressie is unused. And it was nice to see someone do it. :) Both CMs agreed.

It's not a reservation, is a prearragned place in line. In fact, you aren't really in line until you show up and check in. It doesn't "cost" Disney anything if you don't show up. I'm sure it makes their job a little easier as they are then able to seat some of the frustrated people standing by in line.

I think Disney's whole advanced seating reservation system is built around flexibility and 'no shows' not causing a disruption. But I do agree, everyone benefits together if you cancel reservations that you know you will not be using. That is always the best choice.
