Does anyone know if Disney will allow me to bump my 9 year old up to "adult" for the purposes of the dining plan? He's going to be about 6 weeks shy of his 10th birthday on our next trip. I don't care about the extra cost for the meal plan or for the tickets (we aren't going during free dining), but I know he'd love to be able to order "real" food because he's got an almost adult sized appetite and is a very adventurous eater.

I think if you are willing to pay the adult price for him they would be happy to call him an adult! The best thing to do is call and ask:) !

Don't sweat it...if he's gonna be 10 in a few weeks just tell Disney that he's 10. If you're willing to pay for it, they don't care. If he was 12 and you were saying he was 8, that would be a different story:rotfl2:

Probably....but you should first consider where you are going to want to eat.

Depending on where your ADRs are, it may not be necessary. Look at the menus, review your ADRs and then see if it'll make a difference.

If over half of your ADRs are fixed price/buffet meals, then you should probably stick with the child's pricing. If the a la carte places offer choices that your son would enjoy IF you pay OOP for an extra adult appetizer or soup or dessert or even an entree...then stick with the child pricing. If the counter service is the issue, then stick with the child pricing....paying OOP for his CS meals is cheaper than upgrading him on the DDP. (use his CS credits for a kid's breakfast combo- it is the same as an adult breakfast combo with nearly as much food!)
