DDP or OOP - do I chose?

Okay this is probably a really dumb question. Right now I have 10 ADRs and our DDP gives us 7 TS meals. So when we get to a restaurant can I just inform the wait staff if I have paying out of pocket or using the DDP? Or do the last 3 meals have to be our OOP once the plan is used up?

I would figure out which OOP's are the three cheapest ways to go. Inform the OOP's that they will be ....well......OOP's.

Make sure you inform the remaining 7 that they are DDP's.

It doesn't have to be the 'last 3'....it can be your choice.

I also made a few extra ADRs, and I am on the basic DP. We looked at the menus on line, and picked the least expensive meals to for OOP. I am pretty sure the server asks if you are on the dining plan when you order. When we eat at the places that we are going to pay for, I am just going to tell the server no, and pay with my credit card since the Key to the World card will say "disney dining" on it. I just don't want to take the risk of the waiter misunderstanding us, or us having to explain how we are going to pay for things.

The server will ask you if you are on the DDP - if you want to pay OOP for that meal, just tell them that.

And yes - do the math ahead of time and make the 3 cheapest ones your OOP ones.
