DDP for DVC member?

Brian, it wasn't on the 2007 flyer on mousesavers or the one I have, maybe they've updated it once again. If it's changed it's changed. Thanks for the info.

Bicker,

I'm with Dean on this. Doesn't mateer one bit hwat the rules state. A guest purchasing the DDP is entitled to a set number of tickets or meals. Whether they use it for themselves, a friend, a complte starnger makes no difference whatsoever. All they are getting is what they paid for.

Now using a child ticket for an adult meal, that is abuse and should be stopped.

I'm not doubting what is printed and I don't think Dean is either we just don't see what the big deal is.

Explain how buying your friend a meal with a DDP coupon is abuse? :confused3 Since the friend got the meal you are losing one, all adds up from where I sit.

There have been three versions of the 2007 Dining Plan brochure, so far. The first two included the "Sorry, meal entitlements can not be shared between adults and children..." Q&A, but did not include the "Sorry, you may not use your Disney Dining Plan to redeem meals for friends or family members..." Q&A. (These two versions also didn't include a lot of the non-Disney-owned restaurants, such as Chefs de France.) The third version of the brochure, first made available in November, was the first 2007 version to include the "Sorry, you may not use your Disney Dining Plan to redeem meals for friends or family members..." Q&A (and the first 2007 version to include the full list of participating restaurants). (Of course, the non-transferability clause has been in the brochures since 2005.)

Well, that's something that we can surely agree do disagree with. The rules specify the agreement between us and Disney with regard to how we'll use what they're offering us. I see a very strong obligation on the part of both sides to live up to the rules. Buying something is a two-way street.

I'm not doubting what is printed and I don't think Dean is either we just don't see what the big deal is.
And please understand that personally I would not understand why Disney would enforce that rule before they'd enforce the "no child credit for adult meals" rule. It would be mind-boggling to me for them to do so, which is why I'm rather blown-away by the thread on another Disney forum within which those allegedly "in the know" are indicating that that it is only the "no using DDP credits for people other than those on your reservation" rule that they'll be enforcing through the information system changes.

Regardless, I'm sure it'll be very clear exactly what they're enforcing and how within a couple of weeks. In the meantime, Dining Plan patrons are well-advised to expect both rules to be enforced in the most draconian manner suggested, or risk being disappointed by being unprepared for what they encounter.

I'm a rule follower so with this new info that does change things for me personally though I know many will purposefully go around it and I'm sure it will be easy to do so.

Well, of course, that depends on what changes they're making to the information systems. Having said that, I can see them readily applying very effective enforcement with regard to the "Sorry, meal entitlements can not be shared between adults and children..." rule, but agree that it would be much more problematic to apply any reasonable enforcement to preclude opportunists from finding a way around the "Sorry, you may not use your Disney Dining Plan to redeem meals for friends or family members..." rule. What's been suggested is that they'll limit the "number of meals ordered per meal-period" whatever that means. I suspect that even if they defined that well enough to implement it in code, it won't work well in the field and will be reversed (after significant confusion and consternation on the part of a number of patrons).

Time will tell.

The OPs original question has been answered, and this thread is straying off-topic to where it a regular DDP discussion for the DDP sub-board on the Restaurant board. Since the OPs DVC concerns have been addressed, I'm closing it.
