When we take DDs to Disney in April they will be 3 and 20 months. My youngest is definitely my eater. DD3 kind of goes in stages. We normally order them each a kids meal when we go out. I was thinking of adding the dining plan for DD20mo but had some questions.

1. Is it too late to add? We've already paid our trip off and are inside the 45 day window. If we have to pay $50 to modify our reservation then it won't be worth that plus the extra for the dining plan.

2. If we can add it - she'll have to have a ticket, right? I just chose one day base passes with our package (I have an AP) and am going to upgrade tickets when we get there. Could I apply the price of youngest DD's pass to DD3's park hopper?

I hope this makes sense. I confused myself trying to get this all typed out! ;)

The dining plan only applies for 3 and over.

"The Disney Dining Plan is unavailable for Guests under the age of 3, but they may share from an adult plate at no charge or purchase a meal from the menu." - from the Dining Plan brochure

You wouldnt have to pay the $50 change fee since your paying more money and you have until 72 hours from travel to add it. However if you want the little one to have the ddp theyll have to be listed as a 3 year old on the res and have a one day ticket just like everyone else. And NO you couldnt take their ticket and use it to cover the cost of someone elses.

Just to add, you are getting the one day ticket for everyone because youre doing the 4/3 or similar promo? Otherwise you can get dining without buying tickets if you have an AP. Just checking....

I think you're much better off not putting the younger child on plan. Any cost savings vs. OOP (of which I'm doubtful) would be eaten up by the ticket cost (and no, you can't use one ticket to upgrade another).

Disney kid's meals are (theoretically) geared toward an 8-9 year old. Between that, and the relatively common critique of the DDP as "too much food", you should be able to feed both kids off of one kid's meal and maybe something off your own plates if necessary. And if not, there's always OOP for just the extra food ordered.

On top of that, the younger child eats for free at any AYCE or buffet meal already -- depending on how many you have scheduled, you'd essentially wind up paying for meals you would already have gotten for free.

Also, my understanding is that if you list your youngest as three in order to get her on the dining plan for Disney purposes she would be listed as three meaning that you would actually need the park ticket for her to get in just like your actual three year old. So, as noted by the PP, you are actually adding a decent amount of cost in doing so.

I wanted to add my (almost) 2-year-old to the dining plan in the past because he is a big eater. I found it wasn't necessary and I never even bought him meals out of pocket. We always had extra food for him. At the buffets he could get his own food and at the other places we shared food. There is too much food anyway. It would be a rip off to pay for the DDP for him.

You may not want to consider adding the infant to the dining plan, as infants can share off anybody's plate. This means your youngest can share with her older sister, or you can share with her. At buffets and family style meals, the infant eats all they want for free.

If you do decide you want the plan, you will have to register your infant as 3 years old and purchase a park ticket for her.

Your YDD doesn't have an AP, like the rest of you, since she is under 3, right? So if you were going to tell Disney she was 3 to be able to purchase the DDP, then wouldn't she need a ticket for everyday not just one?

Thanks guys! I knew you all would know.
