how would this work? we have just booked our first stay at disney. one night at AKV, and I was just wondering how the ddp would work?
which day would it cover?
do I need to buy a park ticket?

sorry first of probably many questions

It would work as this: each person in your party will get (if regular DDP) - 1 TS, 1 CS, and 1 S credit. You can use them however you want - starting after you check in through the next day. So, you can go to dinner that night, and maybe get a late snack and then use a counter service credit for the morning breakfast, as an example...

You can just buy the plan - don't think you have to have a ticket. You have to add the plan before you get there, but I'm pretty sure you just pay when you check in for it.

You do not need a ticket to add the dining plan if you are staying on a points reservation. Just add it to your reservation through MS at least 48 hours prior to the trip. You will then pay at check in (at least for the time being--that is changing in the fall).

You are given the DDP credits per night, so for each person, you will have 1 TS, 1 CS, and 1 snack.

They are good until midnight your check out day. So, you can use them in any way that you want. You can use them all the day you check in or save some, as PP mentioned, on your check out day as well.

If you are staying on points - either your own or renting - you do not need to purchase park admission to participate in DDP. If you rented a DVC villa through Disney, you will have to purchase a one-day ticket for each guest.

With a one night stay, you will receive 1 snack, 1 counter service, and 1 table service for each guest. That's assuming you got the regular DDP. Those credits are valid from the moment of checkin until Midnight of your checkout day -- so, as others have said, you can actually use the credits over a two-day period.

How does that work if you are moving to another resort? I have a one-night stay booked at BLT in December, moving to AKV the next day. I was thinking about getting the DDP for that first day only. Technically, the credits should be available until midnight of the day I check into AKV, right? Will my check-in at AKV screw this up?
Thanks!

Toniosmom~~

We are doing just that in August...We have a reservation at an AKV studio for the first night..We are getting the deluxe plan for this night and have ressies at our favorite restaurants plus a Fantasmic dining lunch on Sunday..The plan will be good on the day of check in PLUS until midnight on the day we check out..REGARDLESS of a new reservation! We are then checking back in to AKV into a 1 bedroom the next day.

WE are not getting a ddp for the remainder of our stay..just that first night as we have TIW and plan on cooking some meals in the room so it doesn't make sense to get the plan. BUT for the first night we are definitely saving $$$ :)

Thanks, momhmmx2. I think I may go for it.

Does anyone know what the current cost is for DDP?

Does DVC get a discount?

Thanks!
