DDP entree restrictions?

Entrees at different TS's seem to range in price from the mid-teens to high 20's (or a little more in some cases). If you have had DDP, were you ever told there was some particular entree you couldn't order?

Sushi has been limited or excluded, but those are the only limitations I can recall off the top of my head.

I think I read somewhere that you get the appetizer included at the preplated meal at CRT.

But, can my family order the Abbondonza at Tutto Italia, The French Menu at Chef de France or the Chef's Northwest Selection at Artist Point on the DDP? I'm wondering because it includes an appetizer and the appy normally isn't included in the 2008 DDP.

Has anyone tried this successfully?

there are certain things i have seen about certain selections not being available under the ddp..

I know ive seen that the "special" meal at Artist Point not being available under the DDP..

thought i saw once that surf and turf isnt available at some. I know Le Cellier used to have surf and turf. I dont think they carry it any more..

I had the Surf & Turf twice on the plan last year at Narcoossees. It was YUMMY! The CM even let me add on scallops for my second visit. We were there during th Free Dining promo - otherwise it would have been ridiculously expensive. I'm thinking that someone on the Boards has been since 1/1/08 and tried to get the Abbondanza, right?

Ok, any meal that is intended for a party of two counts as two entress, meant for a party of three counts as three, so on and so forth. As for meals that include appetizers, I do not know, from what I have read on the boards the skillet is allowed at WCC and it comes with an appetizer, so I suppose it is possible, also the restaurants at WS are not run by Disney, so they ocassionally run by thier own rules, for example the bakery in Norway allows anything but sandwiches as a snack item, there may be one or two other exceptions, but not many, even if the dollar amount is over the $5.00 limit (I think that's still the snack credit limit).

That's what I was thinking. My friend Shirley and I are going in September. In some cases, I'm willing to pay for an appetizer but know that she won't. Instead of having her stare at me while I enjoy my appy, I was thinking we could order predetermined menus that include appetizers at a few places so she could enjoy them and not have to pay extra. I figured it would take two credits but we still come out ahead.

The "special" meal at Artist Point is a fixed-price meal for which you choose from certain selections. All these selections are available on the regular menu. You could get anything on the regular menu with the dining plan, so there isn't any reason for them to offer the "special" menu to dining plan guests. Now, with the appetizer not included in the basic plan, there is even less incentive to offer that to dining plan guests.

Artist Point is not a fixed-price restaurant, and the "special" menu was not affiliated with any kind of separate package or event.

You can get appetizers on the basic plan if you are at a restaurant that has only a fixed-price menu, or you can get them in conjunction with the Fantasmic package, which is a fixed price charged for certain menu items plus Fantansmic viewing privileges of some sort.

So, if I understand correctly, folks have tried to order the Abbondanza on the DDP and been actually told "no"? But, I could book at say the O'Hanas and get the appy because there is no way to exclude it?

Or, are you applying logic to the situation? Because we've all experienced times when Disney hasn't exactly behaved logically, right?

It seems to depend on the restaurant. I have seen on the boards that the French Menu at Chefs can't be ordered on the dining plan. I know from being there that the Artist Point fixed price menu can't be ordered on the dining plan. Both these restaurants offer the fixed-price menu as a supplement to their regular menu, and the items on the fixed menu can all be ordered off the regular menu. (And it's not about the appetizer - you couldn't order the French Menu or the Artist Point fixed price on the dining plan LAST year when appetizers were still included). I have no idea what Tutto Italia does, having never been there, and I don't recall reading that particular info on the board anywhere.

However, because they consider Fantasmic a package of some sort, you can get the appetizer because it comes with the regular package meal. Places like Ohana and CRT are fixed price menus that include an appetizer, so you'll get one there. If you're at a place with a regular menu, no appetizers on the basic plan.

OK Thanx. I guess I better talk to Shirley about O'hanas or maybe Brown Derby on the Fantasmic package (where can I find the Fantasmic package menu?) I know it's two credits but my be worth it.
