We (me, DH and DS) are all headed to Florida for Spring Break. We have a friend who lives in Orlando (who happens to be an awesome server at Fulton's  !) who has a house that needs some repairs. DH has offered her free labor (who could say no to that :confused3 ). We will all be staying with her for a few days, then we have a reservation at Saratoga Springs for 4 nights. As of right now I have all of us on the reservation with the Deluxe DDP. DH has told me that he will propably be at my friend's house most of that time, finishing up repairs and most likely not go to any parks :scared1: and may or may not stay with us at SS . I really hate to waste his DDP credits. I am not trying to "cheat the system", but wondered if i can take him off the reservation, and just let him use some of our credits if/when he has dinner with us? Please post with any past experiences that you have had. Thanks :)

I'd switch to the DDP for all the days and then just eat his meals if he isn't around, but not worry about having his meals denied if he does try to dine with you. Or drop him completely from the plan and pay OOP only as necessary for him.

If he may not be staying with you in the SSR, I'd drop him from the reservation completely, otherwise he would need to be on the same package as you. I would just buy his meals as they come up and park tickets when he decides to join you.

If he is going to stay with you at the SSR, I would drop down to the basic plan, use some credits with him and then all the extra credits of his that he isn't going to use, use those as well.

I dont' think that the package comes into play at SSR. DVC can just purchase the DDP without an underlying package (or even park ticket)

I like the idea of changing to the basic DDP and then just use his credits as if you're on the deluxe. If he joins you he can use his credit for that day.

Unless you're going to be eating at a lot of double credit meals, then the Deluxe plan is probably overkill. It's way more food than I could eat in a day - esp. if you hit any buffets.

I'd drop to the regular and probably drop DH from the plan too- so long as you're not inside of the 45 day window where they charge you for changing your ressie. (not sure about the terms of DVC meal plan ). If you planned on eating at some double credit meals then it might be worthwhile to keep him on the plan.

the big problem with removing him entirely (not sure if i liked the sound of that, btw....;) ), is that you can only use DDP for the amt of ppl on your room key.
so if you have yourself & your DS (say 2 adults), they will not give you 3 adult DDP meals at TS (of course, you could go back on line for CS; it's just the TS that wouldn't work).

i agrre with PP's: keep him on & just do the regular DDP, or remove him entirely from the room & pay OOP for his meals.
:)
