I'm not sure if I made a mistake booking the DDP...it's just my 23 yr.old daughter and I and I think it might just be too much food. Does anyone know what happens if you want to keep your reservation and tickets but want to cancel the dining part??:confused3

Call and ask, lines should be easy to get on. I say call because you are inside of the 45 days and there may be a cancellation.

The basic DP isn't too much food. Its a sit down dinner, one other meal and snack daily. Have you booked your ADRs yet?

I have some ADRs booked. The last time we did the DDP we felt our whole trip revolved around food and ADRs. At first we were hoping to avoid this by not taking the DDP but yesterday I got nervous about how much it would cost out of pocket without a plan. I like to know what my vacation is going to cost up front. So I panicked and booked the plan. Now I'm wondering if I did the right thing. It's costing us $836 for 2 people for 11 days. It sounded like a good deal at the time.....now I'm not so sure...any advice??

Well, since you are both adults there is a really fun and easy way to be sure tht food isn't your main plan for the day. Treay yourselves to some Signature dining meals or dinner shows. Those use 2TS credits and would mean you only have a scheduled meal every other day. You can then eat CS, even sharing some the other days/times.

You'd have to decide if the two of you will eat $38/day each. If on average you think that you will eat/spend that much on food the plan is a good deal. If you'll spend less, don't get the plan and pay as you go.

As for cancelling, my advice is to call as since you are w/in 45 days I don't know if there are any fees associated with the change. For future reference you could have waited up to 3 days before to book the DP.

If you cancel the DDP within 45 days of arrival theres a $50 fee. I dont think $38 a night is too much, thats the cost of one sit down meal

she is also 23 and we love DDP (helps of course that we get it free!). We share a breakfast CS in the morning (I go get it while she finishes dressing). they are plenty for 2 and come with 2 drinks so she can have juice or water while I have coffee. This time, there is a coffee maker in the room so we'll probably get water to take to the park. Then we also split a CS lunch. We then both get our own TS dinner. Snacks are usually shared too. This keeps us happy but not stuffed. We usually have a couple of CS left on the last day and we grab stuff to go for the wait at the airport. Sometimes the CMs at the food court will let you get, for example, 3 snack items for 1 CS to use them up, not always but ...

I know we could not eat the way we enjoy for less than $38 each per day. I totalled our receipts from last year's trip and, for 7n/8d we "spent" about $800. I don't mind making ADRs and we would do a TS each day either way, never felt tied down or that the ADRs were ruling the trip.

What happens if you have an ADR at one of the restaurants and you are having too much of a great time in the park or the kids are too tired - how do you and can you cancel the reservations?

drop DDP, you are charged a $50 "change fee". If you have not reached the 45th day, then no penalty for changes!

Hope you can make it work, rather than being accessed a fee.

To cancel just call the 407-WDW-DINE line and cancel. You can also stop in Guest services or another TS restaurant to do so. If its one confirmed by a credit card you'll be charged the cancellation fee.

As for letting the kids dictate making or cancelling an ADR that's totally up to you. We cancelled one ADR last trip, too full and wanting to relax at the resort rather than trek to the park.

I would pay close attention to my park plan and ADR schedule and try to place the ADR at a good break point to try to avoid the dilemma you listed.
