DDP at Cap'n Jacks Restaurant

Its the best....
Bill for 2 including tax and gratuity came to about $134.00
DDP is the best! so worth it!

The last time I called, which was about a month ago, the twin lobster tails were included in the dining plan and it uses 1 table service. You get two small to med sized tails, rice and veggie. It looked nice to us and we were thinking of going there but I did not like that we could not make a rsvp and I did not want to wait 90 min to get seated. I worried about that. So I am keeping it as an option, just in case, and I think it looks yummy.
:cloud9:

I thougth I would let you know that now you can make ADR at Cap N Jack. I made one for may upcoming trip in April and had no problem. They used to not accept ADR, but now they do.

Thanks for the info, Paddy :) I just really had a feeling that overall the servers would be appreciative of the gratuity automatically included in the DDP checks, not take it for granted. I've seen too many servers who did a great job get stiffed on tips.

It was also interesting to hear that Disney underwent a global menu change in 11/06 -- which would explain why there are so many differences in menus across the board.

The "add-a-tail" being an option you have to pay for OOP makes sense to me. I could see the DDP including an add-on that costs maybe a couple of dollars, like sauteed mushrooms, but an entire lobster tail that normally has a menu price of $12 -- I was surprised that was ever included with the meals at no additional charge.

We'll be there on Memorial Day night! :) Can't wait to meet you, Paddy! :goodvibes

Disney changed the menus globally for quote “healthier options” end quote.

We believe other wise. First, it’s far cheaper to buy in bulk. If most restaurants have the same menus the company can buy from the wholesaler at better rates. Second, the fed. gov. is pushing for restaurant companies to “clean up the fat”. Just like NY. Third, Disney has a new Ex. Chef; he has to put his thumb print on Disney.

Paddy:Do you receive the full 18% gratuity for DP guests? I was told at RR that they only receive a set amount regardless of the total bill.

Yes, Disney servers receive the full 18% (less taxes).I'm unsure what the agreements are with the OP's. I have also heard they get a flat rate.

Can you tell me what is offered for kids meals now? We were there in Jan. and my girls didn't like any of the desserts offered. They had the smoothies which they ususally love but for some reason they hated them. There was one restraunt that they didn't like any of the kids meals and I can't remember where it was at Disney. We are plannig our meals for May and trying to decide if we want to go back.

Welcome, Paddy! We'll definitely ask for you on our next trip, whenever that might be. We gotta have our CJ's--we love the waterfront location, and it has some of the best service we've ever had at WDW. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and explained the DDP rules very clearly. Plus, after reading all the "favorite margarita" posts, I'm dying to try one there! CJ's is our new, can't-miss favorite restaurant.

The wife and I have reservations at CJ's for July 3rd. I am really looking forward to a nice margarita.

Paddy, is the menu found at ww.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_cj.htm still fairly accurate with the exception of the add-a-tail option? I am going to be on the DDP and want to make sure there will be something I like to eat. I am a very picky eater. Thanks in advance for a reply.

Thanks for the new menu, Paddy. It still looks yummy to me! Only a few days to go before the "add a tail" disappears. Hope you don't have to take too much grief for it. Let us know how it goes.

OH wow, I am a sea food lover!
I will be looking for CJ's specially now :yay:
Am I going to get funny looks if I ask for Paddydax? :rotfl:

 Thanks Paddy for the menu. I will definitely find something I like with those choices. And after a few margaritas, I might even try something I nomally wouldn't. :woohoo:

Just to clarify...and I don't even EAT lobster  ...I know the "add a tail" option is going away as a free extra for DDP meals. But will it still be available if a diner, whether or not they are on the DDP, wishes to purchase it and pay OOP? Or will it not be offered anymore at all?

THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE NEW MENU PADDY! WE WILL MOST DEFINITELY BE COMING TO VISIT YOU A CAP'N JACKS IN SEPTEMBER. MY DS READ ABOUT THE RESTAURANT TODAY AND TOLD ME WHEN I CAME HOME THAT WE HAD TO PUT IT ON OUR EXTENSIVE LIST OF PLACES WE WANT TO TRY THIS TRIP. I HOPE YOU ARE THERE WHEN WE COME TO VISIT.....WE'LL ASK FOR YOU! THANKS AGAIN!
:goodvibes

Thanks for all the info Paddy. We'll be going to CJ's for the first time this Sept. I read on this thread that you can't make ADR's. Is this so? Because I called CRO and booked a dinner ADR for CJ's on 9/6.:confused3

CJ's is on the ADR. We have only been on the DRS for a few mos. As with a lot the info out and about it's out-dated.
