I'm about to become a member of the AP club, and was wondering -- do you ever find the ability to get free dining with the AP now that the packages seem to include the cost of a park hopper ticket? Are there any free dining opportunities nowadays that are room only?

It has only gotten worse. In the past you only had to buy a 1 day ticket, which was not bad, then it went to 2 days and now they make you buy hoppers. No way is FD worth it for us anymore with our APs.

For free dining you would need to get tickets. But you can always save those tickets for another trip, or eventually use to put toward your AP renewal.

Make sure you do the math and often room-only discounts will come out ahead of free dining, especially with values and moderates only getting the Quick-service plan. And then you can consider the AP discounts on actual meals.
