DDP and Food and Wine Festival

We are considering going in 2013 during the Food and Wine Festival and staying onsite with just our younger ones. Does the DDP snacks or CS cover any of the kiosks of food? What happens if it is free dining? Are the special foods excluded?

There's no way to say for sure even for 2012 yet. Disney doesn't announce this and they do like to change things.

But for the past several years, DDP snack credits (snacks only, not CS credits) would cover any purchase of food or non-alcoholic beverages from the World Showcase kiosks. With no exclusions (an ice cream dish was excluded last year, but it was counted in the alcohol category because they poured straight Grand Marnier over the ice cream.)

Free dining is not relevant - it is treated exactly the same way as paid dining.

When I was there in 2005 (so take it for what it's worth) the little snacks at the food and wine festival counted as a snack off our plan.

We tried a ton of little items at the festival that we would have otherwise skipped had we not done the dining plan. It was fun. And we still had snack credits left on the last day.

Piglet we're hoping for this as well! What a fun way to try new cuisine. Last year we had so many table service and snack credits left. Buying candy with the snack credits at the end was kind of neat for the kids, but most of it is still sitting in our pantry, so I'm not eager to do it again. Will you get to go on a holiday trip this year? *fingers crossed for you!*

I'm shooting for October and MNSSHP!!!! We've never been for Halloween.

Gotta get my act together. I didn't act fast enough a couple of days ago and lost the chance to stay at Port Orleans FQ.

But I will save money at the Pop and we don't spend much time in the room anyway.

We may even check to see if they will exchange a CS for 2-SC, I'll be checking the Dis for this information before our trip to POP Oct 19-26.

I'd be spending more time at the Festival if they would make the exchange. If they don't I'll probably get a CS breakfast and lunch most days and use the SC and my rewards card for dinner time at the Fest. .
Can't wait a little over 2 weeks to go.

I've just budgeted more food money than normally. On QS, I usually don't buy more than one or two snacks outside of the meal, but this time I expect to pick up several more. There are 4 of us with tickets though and we think we'll never buy the same F&W item and just eat from each others plates. That gives us a few more credits...sort of. LOL

I still don't know if we can make the exchange. Maybe someone ther now will be able to answer this when they get home.

You can't exchange counter service credits for snack credits.

What you may be able to do is go to your resort CS and trade the CS credit in to purchase some snacks. But you can't convert the credits over into another type of credits so you can use them at the F&W, and the F&W booths won't accept your CS credits in trade for multiple food samples.

We (us and Piglet) were only hoping just so we could spend more time at the F & W. But in EPCOT want to try the Katsura Grill (praying its better then Yuckatori), and old favs Yorkshire County Fish Shop, LA Cantina and Tangierine to use our CS and the pay OOP for a beer flight or wines from the fest.
And less then 2 weeks to go.
