DDP and Child CS Credit

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I recently found out that CS credits don't differentiate between adults and children. We are 3 adults and 1 child (who eats like a child), and currently have 2 more CS meals planned than we have credits for. Can we pay OOP for all the kids meals and use those credits for adult meals? Any other suggestions to maximize CS credits? TIA!
