DDE - Who can pay for the meal?

Does the official cardholder have to pay for the meal, or can anyone at the table pay with the discount the cardholder is entitled to?

when we went with a group, we just pooled our money and the cardholder passed the money and card in.......this worked for us at Biergarten, and a few other restaurants........

I am not sure if there is a requirement for the names to match. I do know you can't split the check to two credit cards - it would have to be split cash and a card. I do know that we were able to use my DDE card and have my dad pay for it...but our last names were the same.

The only time we had a problem was when we tried to split it between two cards. We try to put 50% on my card and 50% on my FIL's card. They wouldn't let us do that. She said it had to be on one card.

Anyone at the table can pay for the meal/put it on a credit card. It is just that the DDE cardholder must be present.

Normally they will not do split checks with DDE.

We were successful at one restaurant with them splitting it among 4 credit cards. At another, they would not split it...had to use one credit card.
