DDE question

I understand that there's an automatic 18% gratuity added when you use the DDE. I'm not going to get into my tipping habits, and I can understand why they would do it for table-service. However, is it still included if you just by a meal at a counter-service location, such as POP's food court? No one ever tips at places like these. So, if it's added, is there any recourse if you want them to remove it from the total?

No tip is added to counter service meals. Of course, there are very few CS spots that take DDE.
