If you have an annual pass you get 10% off most food, correct? If you buy the DDE do you get an extra 10% off for a total of 20% or do you get an additional 20% off for a total of 30%? Do the discounts apply at mostly the same restaurants?

Just trying to figure out if an annual pass and DDE makes sense for us...

Thanks!
Alison

Thanks! I was trying to figure out why the DDE card was such a good deal and now I see why!

We're staying off-site for a week and then onsite for a week so between free parking and food discounts it seems like we'd be money ahead for one of us to get a season pass especially if we added the DDE card! Because we're off-site the first week, I can't figure out a way to do the DDP.

We love that free resort valet parking for dinner, really adds to the savings. And since we prefer TS to CS, enjoy wine with dinner, we think we do a little better with the DDE than we would with the DDP. With the DDE card covering up to 10 people, the card can pay for itself in just one or two meals. Enjoy your trip.

Keep in mind that a seasonal pass does not give you free parking at the parks... only an annual pass does.

Are you able to be on the DDP and also use the DDE for additional items or alcoholic beverages? Also, how would that work as far as tipping?

Just tell your server that you will be using your DDE card for the items that aren't included witht the DDP. Then you'll get 2 bills: one for the tip for DDP and one with your non-DDP items including the tip.

We did it when DS10 wasn't in the mood for "adult" food. We paid OOP for his kids meal and used our DDE card on his bill (and anything extra we had ordered) and then received a seperate bill for our DDP.

Yes, you will get two bills. One for the DDP and one for the DDE.
We ate at Rose & Crown last week and I wanted soup that was not on the plan, so we used the DDE card for the soup.......
Separate checks were no problem for the CM...........

Thank you both for such a speedy response!:flower3:

I plan on getting the DDE card for our upcoming trips this year and using it for just those things!:)

What AP 10% discount on food at lunch? I didn't know that - we've just been using our DDE card wherever it's taken, but do additional places (counter service) give 10% for an AP holder?

Please let me know!

The Epcot TS restaurants give a 10% discount on food and non-alcoholic beverages at lunch only for AP and SP holders. There are also some lunch and supper discounts at some of the DTD restaurants: House of Blues comes to mind, as well as Planet Hollywood. Can't remember any other off-hand.

Good to know: Ghirardelli's gives a 10% discount any purchase all day. Yummy!

Thanks! I was hoping it was like counter services places in the parks, but I guess not! We'll do better with our DDE card, but I learned something new!

The AP/SP discount can still be useful if you go to the few restaurants that do not accept the DDE, such as Teppan Edo (10 %at lunch) and House of Blues (20% at lunch and 10% at supper)

Just something to keep in mind!

Does anybody know how the automatic gratuity works if you use your DDE at a CS restaurant? In the past we used it for all our meals at the Pop Century food court. Are they adding 18% to the bill there too?

I appreciate any help.

No gratuity expected or calculated at a CS restaurant.

And DDE (now Tables in Wonderland) is not good all the time - there are eight blackout dates, which are usually major holidays - New Years Eve, New Years Day, Easter Sunday, Mother's Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

No combining discounts is permitted. You can't get 30% off for having an annual pass plus DDE/TIW.

On the subject of AP discounts, does RFC AK offer a discount to AP holders? I know they don't accept the DDE card. We're eating breakfast there on Thanksgiving morning, & will try for the discount if it's offered. Since the DDE discount isn't offered on Thanksgiving day, it would be a nice bonus to get the 10% off at RFC.

With the DDE, 18% gratuity is now added. I believe that began in January 2008. Also, there are few, if any, counter service restaurants that give a discount. You will need to check the DDE and the AP restaurant list. Wolfgang Puck Express, Earl of Sandwich, Ghirardelli were a few, but I think they are the 10%. You can not combine both cards to receive 30% but the DDE and DDP can be used for items that are not covered by the other.

Hope this helps!!! Have a great trip! :dance3:
