My hubby and I are debating on getting the Annual Pass, and then with it the DDE. If we do decide to get an annual pass, and purchase the voucher at the Disney store, when can we purchase the DDE? Can we do it immediately from when we purchase the voucher?

We were only hoping to get the card in time for our trip in Dec.

Appreciate the help!

You can purchase it over the phone immediately if you have the voucher #. It's def worth the money!

If you want the AP and DDE to both expire around the same time, I would purchase them both together. Or...you could purchase your DDE right before you go and tell the CM to have a DDE letter ready for you to pick up at will call. (We picked ours up from Epoct one year and DTD another year.) The letter will work until you recieve your permement card.

I didn't even need a voucher # when I ordered my DDE card. I had just made my reservations for AP rate and purchased my AP on the same phone call. CM gave me the phone # for DDE so I called right away and told them I had just ordered my AP. No problem whatsoever.:thumbsup2

Your DDE card will start as soon as it's ordered. To get the maximum length (for future trips) order it after the 10th of the month prior to the month you are traveling to WDW. It will good for the partial month and then the full 12 months.

If you order on September 10th your DDE card will be good thru October 31st.

I'm still on the fence about the DDE, still trying to crunch numbers.....I'm disappointed that the DDE will be adding a required gratuity no matter what size party (3 of us)....but I'm looking at it as I get 20% off, the tip adds 18% back in, so basically I'm coming out fairly even.....good service I'll drop a little extra to supplement the 18%, so that'll eat the 2% from some of the other places up.

How long does it take to receive DDE (West Coast)? We're arriving January 13, so you're saying I shouldn't order it until December 10? I would like AP (which won't be activated until January 14) and DDE to expire together, because I'm seriously thinking of trying to squeeze in a week in January 09 before AP expires.

It's not necessarily the 10th. The good CMs at DDE will help you with that. I ordered mine April 9 and received it three weeks later. It expires 5/31. In your case if you wait until the magic date, it will expire 1/31/09 so would be good for your 1/09 trip. They say to allow 3-4 weeks and since it is first class USPS, the West coast shouldn't matter much.

When doing your calculations remember that you will only realize actual savings once you've spent $325. Anything before that just recoups the cost of the membership.
