I know that the DDE card now automatically factors in 18% gratuity, but does this also happen for Buffets. I consider myself a above average tipper, but even I would have a hard time giving 18% for buffet service. Sorry if that comes off as cheap but they do less work and have less responsibility at buffets.

Before I get flamed, this is coming from someone who tips 20% on even terrible service, and always way above that for good service.

Does the automatic 18% also go with the buffets?

Yes it adds 18% absolutely ANYWHERE that you choose to use it. Enjoy.

It's the auto-grat on buffets, too. And don't forget if you use it for alcohol, too, at, say, a bar at a resort, you'll get the auto-grat. Anytime you use your DDE to get a discount on food or drink, you will have the 18 percent auto-grat.

I will also say I was quite skeptical of this regarding buffets during our recent trip, but I think the waitress at Biergarten worked harder, faster and more efficient than the servers at our other meals (Jiko, Bistro & PTC). My days of thinking buffet servers don't work as hard as other TS-type meals are over after that experience. In some cases, I think they work even harder.
