Our family is going to Disney in May and we are bringing my parents along. We love to eat out at all the Table Service locations so we were thinking that the Dining Plan was perfect for us. But I keep second guessing myself. Which do you think is better for 4 adults and 1 child ?

Also I understand that the DDE is good for drinks as well. We like to drink "Around the World" at Epcot and enjoy a drink or two at a few Table Service restraunts, and POP's bar ? Is the DDE good for these places as well or only with dinner in a restraunt

I am pretty sure that DDE is not going to work at POP's pool bar. You can get just a drink at a sitdown restaurant as long as it is participating.

You do know that the dining plan is available when you get a package with at least a one day ticket for your stay.

Also DDE is only available to AP holders and FL residents.

I'm pretty sure the DDE & the DINNING PLAN are 2 differnt things. Which one are you talking about? :hippie:

The only one who can say whether or not it will be beneficial for your family is you....you need to make a list of where/what your group would eat. Then, compare the two plans. That's what I am doing. I'm making up a listing of the places I hope to eat in Oct, and what we will be ordering (based on previous visits). Then, I'm figuring the cost, with the DDP and then with the DDE card. I am coming out pretty close in costs..there is about a $40 difference for us.

As far as where you can use the DDE card, I do believe you can use it at the bar in Pop. Since you can use it at the food court at Pop, I would imagine that the adjoining lounge would accept it also.

I'm not sure about the pool bar at POP, but several lounges take the DDE card for drinks only. DH and I used it at the Tambu Lounge, Victoria Falls, and the Territory Lounge this last December.

OP - You really need to decide how you are going to want to eat before you can decide which dinning discount is right for you. If you generally eat one counter services and one regular table service meal (not a signature restuarant) per day then the disney dining plan is for you. If you generally eat at the more expensive restuarants, have alcoholic drinks at those meals, and sometimes eat at two sitdowns per day, then the DDE card is better for you (and you will have to be a Florida res or an AP holder to get it). If you eat pretty much counter service meals with a few character meals thrown in during the week, neither is for you.

Once you decide where and how often you are going to want to eat - then the decision is easy.

For DH and I the DDE is much better than the Dinning Plan because we like the signature restuarants and drinks
