DDE or Dining Plan?

My Disney Dining Experience card doesn't expire until end of May. I just planned a last minute trip to WDW for mid May. Dh thinks maybe we should try the dining plan. thinks it is a better deal perhaps for our family (3 paying family members) as opposed to the 20% discount card. (considering DDE doesn't include a tip, but the dining plan does, etc.) Plus more food on dining plan etc. :cheer2:

We always do a sit down meal for dinner.

Any opinions ? It's just a 3 day trip. thanks!

Try it you might like it. We are trying in May.

We purchased DDE last October. Our upcoming trip in May is split between BCV and OKW. My husband and I are giving the Dining Plan a try during the OKW part of our trip. This will let us evaluate which works better for us.

I struggled with this for our June trip and decided against the DDP in favor of renewing the DDE card. But for a short stay I would definitely give it a try.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the DDP does not include alcoholic beverages or glowing ice cubes, so if you ordered those you would be presented with a bill and the DDE card could be used to get a 20% discount. Does anyone know if this will work?

Or, if you wanted to eat someplace like Beaches and Cream which is considered a "table service" meal but didn't want to use a table service credit, you could plan to pay out of pocket using the DDE card and get a 20% discount on the bill.

Correct. The DDE card gets you 20% off whatever you order no limitations. As long as you are eating at a participating place of course. For my husband and I it is a good deal as we can order what we want and not worry about it.
