DDE on Easter

So did anyone try to use the DDE on Easter? I heard that even though the card rules say it can't be used on holidays, some restaurants still take them. I'm wondering because my Mom and I are planning Mother's Day dinner at Cinderellas. We're going no matter what but I was just wondering if anyone was able to get the discount.

I wouldn't count on it. DDE discounts have been out for a long time (but only new to passholders), so the black out dates are nothing new to the CMs at the restraurants. Even if the CM server forgets, the discounts still have to be cleared off by the restraurant mangers. We get the CM dining discounts ourselves (7 1/2 years now), which is similar to the DDE discount. We all know, too well, about blackout dates for holidays and special events. The only places you might find on mother's day that will give you a discount is food court type dining (I think that is AK and value resorts). We will be there on mother's day too and I made sure to make a reservation that wouldn't cost me too much without the dining discount. If you plan to go to someplace expensive, you should opt for a late lunch, since the lunch menus then to be cheaper then dinner menus.

I definately wouldn't count on that..for the same reasons already stated.

You will just have to call the restaurant and see what they say.
Last year we used the DDE on every major holiday. Even at LTT for NYE with a party of six.

We were at Epcot for a few hours Easter. The German restaurant was suggested to me as a place that would probably allow the discount on the new holiday black out dates. But there was probably a 10 -15 minute just to get to the podium.
we had two Q&C voucers and used these for a delicious meal at the Morocco counter service restaurant. :goodvibes

I think CMs often assume if they can't get a discount on a meal at a certain day or time, neither does anyone else. This is not the case, unless things have changed. Last year I treated CMs to dinner discounts using my DDE card, as their discount was only for lunch. (Us guests pay for our discount privledges. ;) )

Excuse me, but my husband pays for his discount privledges too! not money, but through hard work....believe me, Disney does not give him anything that he does not earn. And because he's not a WDW CM we too have to buy APs at the non-FL price, just like everyone else. We do however, get alot more dining perks than DDE holders. We are also eligible to buy the AP DDE, but did the math and we would have to spend at least $250 to break even and there is no way we could do this even with 5 trips a year--there are only so many maragritas you can drink.

Hope this helps answers some questions.

I notice Memorial day is not listed as blocked out. Has anyone making a PS for Memorial day asked about DDE discount? I've avoided Mem day PS because I didn't want to worry about a $40 deposit and not being able to use DDE card.
