We'll be a party of 11 in June '08. How will that affect our use of DDE? OOP for the 11th person? No discount for anybody? Just wondering!

Certainly not no discount for anybody! There are a couple of options.

One is to get a second card and split the party into two groups. It's unlikely that you are going to be able to seat 11 together at many restaurants anyway, so that may be a workable idea.

Another idea is to just take your chances. There have been anecdotal reports of servers applying the DDE discount to more than 10 people -- even up to 12-13, I believe.

Personally, I think I'd go for the second card and be done with it.

Worst case scenario, you're going to lose the 20% discount for only one person...so that's not the end of the world. You're still going to be saving a princely sum.

I agree with Jim. We have had instances where one card was taken and the discount given for everyone (we had 29 at Crystal Palace a couple of years ago). Now having said that, there were several other people who had a DDE card plus we had a couple of cast members with us (although we always use the DDE over their cast discount since it covers alcohol). I can't be sure if someone didn't pipe up saying they had a DDE card too.

Since we are only talking one person, they may let it go through.

The most difficult part will probably be the no separate checks. Just just plan ahead for that and you should be fine.
I agree, it may be easier just to pay the extra for the second card. And that way if the group gets split it will make life easier.
You will get your more than your money worth even paying extra for that second card.

I was wondering the same thing. Lets say it is 8 adults, 3 kids. Thats 11. Can you tell the server that you will pay for one of the kids OOP so that all the adult meals (and beverages :drinking1) get the 20%? If my plan for next summer succeeds, that will be the make-up of our party.

Oh oh, that never crossed my minde. We're a party of 12 for December and we DO have seating at just one table for CRT and Jiko's. Every other restaurant we're split into two tables. Since we're one party, I was planning on paying for both tables (because we ARE treating them) and then using my DDE card for all. Will that not work if we're not seated together? Even if we get two DDE cards, my husband and I want to sit together, not split with one of us at one table and one at the other.

DDE is officially limited to no more than ten people at a time.

If you puchase a second family member card it will have the same membership number and so you cannot use both of the cards at the same meal for a party of more than ten. If you actually purchase two separate cards then it will work.

If the party is split at two tables you will (hopefully) have the same server and be able to coordinate into two checks, one for ten people and the other for two.
