How long is it good for? I'm debating buying one for an early September solo trip and then having it for a family trip in May 2009. I also have another group trip for next September, but later in the month than this year's trip. I know it won't help me on the solo trip, so if it doesn't last long enough, I think I should wait until May :confused3

The DDE card is good for a year.

Mine have been good for 13 months, so you should be okay with picking one up in Sept, I assume '08. It should be good through Sept '09.

Understood, but, if I buy on 9/7/08, is it going to expire on 9/7/09, or is it going to be through the end of September 2009? :confused3 I thought I had read somewhere that it's a "month" thing, unlike tickets?

It would be good until the end of September 2009.

And while we're on this topic... Did I read correctly that I can now pick up a DDE when I get to Disney? (In other words, I no longer have to preorder it?) And if this is so, where do I go to get it?

I picked ours up at the guest relations desk where I turned in our annual pass vouchers for the real thing.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping for :woohoo: It should definitely save some money in 3 trips!

Amusingly, I bought one on 2/23/08, and it is good through 3/23/09. I *think* the CM probably just goofed, but it doesn't matter much because I only needed it through 3/1/09, and don't plan to go back between the 23rd and 31st.

But, before you buy your card, *ask*. If you don't like the answer you get, try with another CM a bit later. ;)

I don't have my DDE card on me, but I think it's actually 13 months. I will try to post later with the date son mine.

Oddly enough, I have done three trips since I got mine, and I've hardly used it at all! The problem is, two were solo trips, and I feel weird eating at a table service restaurant by myself. I'm hoping to plan a trip for me, DH, and the in-laws soon, though, and if I do, the card will get a real work-out! (DH has a ton of siblings.)

That actually raises another question. I know that the DDE card can be used for up to 10 people (I forget if that includes the card holder, or if it's 10 plus the card holder.) If all my in-laws and nieces and nephews go, that'll be like 16 people total. Can I get DH his own DDE card and then have the discount available for up to 20 people? I know that if you have DDE, you can get your spouse a DDE card for $25, but does that give each of you a discount for up to 10 people, and does the spouse have to be an annual pass holder? I have an AP, but DH doesn't -- he doesn't go to Disney nearly as much as I do. (Unlike me, he has a real job, poor guy! :lmao: )

If no one knows here, I will post on the restaurant board, but I figured someone might just happen to know the answer.

Got me. I don't think the servers are too careful about the 10-person limit. I've hosted parties of 12, and had the discount apply to all of them. I'm not sure if 16 is enough to get them to blink or not.

Thanks, Brian! If it looks like the whole family will go, I'll ask about this on the restaurant board.

We have been purchasing the card since they opened it up to Passholders. I called today because I wanted to know what day of the month one would have to purchase in order for the expiration to be a year PLUS one month. I remembered our last card expired the month after it was originally purchased. The woman at DDE said, and I quote, "if it is purchased after the 1st, it will expire on he last day of the following month(the following year). HUH??? So as long as you buy your card on ANY day of the month except the 1st??? How odd! Anyway, it works for me! lol!
