Just FYI since many members like to compare the DDE card to the DDP for their DVC trips.

Received this email from Disney....

Greetings,

On the occasion of the 13th annual Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, we are pleased to announce that we will be launching a new name for the Disney Dining Experience.

Our Festival, which will take place from September 26 – November 9, 2008 will celebrate Cities in Wonderland, and following that theme, your dining club will be named Tables in Wonderland as of September 15, 2008.

This new name will not alter any of your current benefits. We have simply decided to do this to help distinguish your membership from any other dining privileges at Walt Disney World Resort that bares a similar name to the Disney Dining Experience.

You may continue to use your current card until expiration and your renewal card will reflect the new name, Tables in Wonderland......<snip>

The Tables in Wonderland card. Personally I think that's dumb. But we can now choose between the DDP or the TiW card...:confused3

Dumb, but might make distinguishing them online a bit easier. DDP and DDE are a bit too close for some people to figure out.

I like that they changed the name, but Tables in Wonderland? Ugh. They had to refer to a piece of furniture, Were they afraid to offend by referring to food? I suppose Wonderland Dining could be confused with WD40 huh?

BTW, in my mind, 'Wonderland' is a race track. :rotfl: Hey, anyone for Kelly's? That's what WDW needs :thumbsup2 pop it right next to Beaches & Cream. Oh I've gotten totally 'off track' here.

Makes it sound like you'll have to eat in a teacup :rotfl:

I get motion sick just thinking about it now.

Me--> "Excuse me, do you take this rediculous sounding Wonderland Table card thing?"

CM server --> "What?"

Me--> "The card formerly known as the Disney Dining Experience"

CM server --> "Oh, the dining plan, yeah you can use your credits here, sure"

Me --> "No, not the Disney Dining Plan, the Tables In Wonderland card"

CM server --> "What?"

---rinse, repeat---

Or alternate ending

Server --> "Sorry, Ma'am/Sir, you are in Adventureland, not Wonderland."

Who the heck thought up the new name?:hippie:

Probably the same guy who came up with Kingdom Tower.

Remember Monty Python's Dept. of Silly Walks? I'm beginning to think that Disney has a Dept. of Silly Names.

Someone got paid a whole bunch of money to come up with that name. Why didn't they just name the Disney Dining Plan the Wonderland Dining Plan? And leave DDE as DDE like it has been for years and years.

We can include BLT in with the new horrible naming group :rotfl: Maybe Disney's new approach is to employ 6 year olds to name their products. :3dglasses

Well, as long as they come up with great designs & products they can call them anything they want as far as I'm concerned.

I'm sorry, but I just can't go up to a CM and say, "I'd like to buy the Tables in Wonderland card" with a straight face.

I had the same reaction! I instantly thought of the Wonderland dog racing track in Revere, MA with mental images of the DDE turning into track-side dining. Maybe they will have people in greyhound costumes at all the character meals.

We're due to renew on our next trip and I'm not sure I can bring myself to tell the wait staff that I have a Tables in Wonderland card. Ugh. I think I'll just refer to it as "the card formerly known as the Disney Dining Experience." I feel like we used to have a Dining Experience, now we just have a table somewhere and I'm not even sure where.

OOOH, a neighbor!!! :rotfl:

I remember the good-ol days when there was only one Kelly's! Now there's one on every corner practically.

Are you actually from Revere?

As for the name change: everything is the same, just with a different name? No biggie

I personally never understood what 'Disney Dining Experience' meant. What, because you got 20% off you had a different 'experience' than everyone else at the restaurant?
Call it what it is: FEP Frequent Eaters Program

why not just call it TDC, 20% discount card.thanks disney give me $100,000 for the name
Paulh

:lmao:

Sure. I laugh NOW. But then I realize I'm gonna have to get my new card on my next trip so now I feel more horrified than anything......I really don't want to say "Tables in Wonderland" card either.

(seriously...could they at LEAST come up with a card that has a decent acronym? TIW?? gaaaaaaaa!!!)

I'll be getting one on 9/18. I'll probably just play ignorant and ask a DDE card.

Along those lines, I think they should have held a contest to find a new name. If they offered a free DDE card for the next couple of years to the winner I think they would have received a lot of entries. I'm sure we all could come up with something much better than TIW.
