DDE card can now be purchased by AP holders! Woo Hoo!

Thanks so much, Chuck. That helps. I thought I was going to have to draw myself up a chart to keep all the info straight! :flower1:

LOL - Actually, it may be easier to do a color coded spreadsheet than to flip through the AP sleeve, then the DDE list and then the DVC Pocket Perks :)

LOL...You're right, I think I may do that! Since I am obsessed with planning, anyway, this actually sounds like something I could do tomorrow if I'm snowed in!

Thanks pooh, that was very helpful!

Dean, the question on everyones mind though is, since this is an AP perk, will you have to show a current activiated pass in order to use it?
I understand that. My point was that since they didn't check FL residence status when you use the card (at least they didn't, they could have changed in the last couple of years), I doubt they will care about your AP. Remember the only AP perk is getting the card, not using it. Heck, once you have the card, I'm sure your AP could expire in a month and they would not care. Regardless, requiring your DL, which you would normally carry anyway, is much different than requiring your AP which you may not even be using if you're not in the park. I was thinking of getting an AP and not activating it till next year but going ahead and getting the DDE at the discounted rate. Worst case scenario is I have to show my FL ID.

It is good until a year from the month you order it from. For example, if you order it today, it will be good until 1/31/06.

So if you have to order it 6-8 weeks in advance, do you only really have 10 "usable" months out of the card?

For example, we are planning to get APs and do a 4 day trip in 12/05, 1 week trip in 6/06 and another 4 day trip in 12/06. We're planning our 12/06 trip to squeeze the most out of AP's and would like to do the same on the DDE. (We plan to use our home resort of HH in the summer on odd years, so we'd be getting our AP's & DDE every other year.)

I see what you mean now. It's valid from a year when you order it, not a year from when you receive it. So if you've ordered yours this week, it will be valid until 1/31/06, but you will receive it sometime between the first week of Feb and the first week of March, depending on how long it really takes to get there. I've heard 4-6 weeks and I've heard 6-8 weeks. So, if it does take the 8 weeks (hopefully not) it would be good from 3/5-1/6.
I think I've gone and confused myself more, I hope I didn't do the same to you :earboy2:

Cruise-o-matic, I would call in early December, explain your situation, and ask them to fax or email a confirmation letter. That shoudl let you use it in Dec 05, then you should have you cards for your June 06 trip. And if the pattern holds true, it would expire 12/31/06.

I agree with Chuck. Based upon everything I've read, you can ask them to fax temporary documentation for use until you receive the permanent card.

Also bear in mind that the current 6-8 week turnaround is a result of demand for a perk that was just announced a week ago. I believe it is normaly 1-2 weeks for delivery, and I'm sure it will be more within that timeframe by the time December rolls around.

Another question: Is there anywhere onsite you can buy the DDE card directly? Or can you only get it by phone?

A few yeas ago they would deliver temp cards to the DD guest services but they no longer will do this.

Okay I was a bit confused when I visited this site and checked out what they had to say about the DDE pass:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/discounts/discounts-ap.htm

While it says 20% at over 70 restaurants...it then throws in several paragraphs about particular restaurants and only 10% for up to 4 guests at certain places.

Is that really the case? Because as a DVC member, we get those discounts anyway so now I'm wondering if it's really worth the extra $50 if I'm already getting discounts in dining with through my DVC membership.

You're mentally combining two different programs as you read that. The first part mentions the DDE but it does not show the list of restaurants. The second part, where you see a list of restaurants, and mentions of 10% etc. etc. is the regular AP discount for dining. Those are two seperate entities.

We called on Thursday before leaving on Friday at 2am to come down to WDW. When I explained the situation, they emailed us a confirmation letter that we have been using since we didn't have the card. We paid $50 and we are a family of four. We have used it at Boma, Flametree BBQ and Trails End Buffet and already saved almost $35.00. So before we leave next Saturday, I'm sure it will have well paid for itself, plus we'll get to use it again in December for our 2 week trip.

Did you need to show any ID or a current AP? Just curious, it wont affect me either way, as I'm going to renew my AP anyway, and I always carry ID at Disney in case the scanners are offline, but there have been questions on the boards.

Does anyone know if we need more than one of these DDE cards, or is one enough for a family of four?
We have 4 annual passes already - but do you have to get a DDE card for each person dining, or is the discount for the people dining with you at the table?

1 card is good for up to 10 people on the same check.
