DDE card can now be purchased by AP holders! Woo Hoo!

Just to let everyone know it was painless through the website, it only took seconds to spend all of that money, it almost seems there should be some bells and whistles or somthing :) - I had to buy 4 Adults...I received an email right after the purchase with all of the info. You can also print the final confimation page before you close out of the window. The price listed already had the discount included in it, and they only charge $3.00 shipping for the certificates.

Can't get the DDE through the website, though, right?

Thanks Denise!

I thought I had read that some folks were having problems purchasing APs through the DVC website. This sounds like the way to go for us!

PJ

Ditto. I hadn't noticed you could buy APs through the DVC member website. Guess it's good for something after all. ;)

Hold times at DDE are long. I was on quite a while, but I have ordered my card!

The price is $50.00 AP and PAP pass holders get $25.00 off. I just got off the phone and they did not ask me for any vocher confirmation number.

:cheer2:

So what's the scoop on the effective dates of the DDE card? Is it for a year from the purchase date? Calendar year? Tied into the AP dates somehow?

It is good until a year from the month you order it from. For example, if you order it today, it will be good until 1/31/06.

I hope they continue this into the future....we'll be getting AP's that we'll activate in Jan 2006. Hopefully we can get the DDE card and use it throughout that year. We didn't eat at restaurants all that much this past trip and our food budget was still over $600 for 5 days. And it would be nice to have this when my parents join us again in 2007...they pay for a lot of our meals when they join us and it would be nice to at least let them get a discount!

Is this a limited time offer? I will purchase my AP vouchers now but we are not going until March. Then we will go again in December and the following March. If I'm understanding it correctly if I wait until March to purchase the DDE it will be good until the end of the second March trip. Now I would hate to be greedy and have them cancel this program before March when I would be purchasing them.

Deb's web site says:
Card takes 2 - 3 weeks to arrive at your home and is good for one year from when it is issued.

Does anyone know if this is still the case??

Example:
Think I will be ordering the (DVC discounted) AP, but, not using it till my 2006 visit.
Does the DDE card ..now..work the same way?? Or..will I need to wait till my visit to order the DDE????

I am also wondering this. I think I will order our discounted APS soon, but will not be using them until our August trip. I figured I would have to wait until end of July or early August to order the DDE card being that everyone says it is only good for one year from purchase month. I am wondering if the DDE offer will not still be available in July. I guess I will just have to wait and see. :D

DDE is a separate program. I'm sure it will not be tied to the dates of your AP and the clock will start ticking once the card is issued. So they will not expire at the same time.

According to the people on the phone, due to the large numbers ordering cards will take 4 to 6 weeks.

Dean, the question on everyones mind though is, since this is an AP perk, will you have to show a current activiated pass in order to use it?

I have a feeling that the $25 off is the AP perk, not the DDE card.

DDE Members also get free valet parking when thety dine at a resort.

Also note the Big River Grill on the boardwalk doesnt give the DDE discount..

I'm glad you mentioned that. My dh and I ate at the BRG in September and were surprised when they told us we couldn't use the card. We never would have eaten there if we'd known ahead of time. Live and learn, it pays to check your sheet of available restaurants before going to a restaurant. But to tell the truth this is the first and only time this happened. I always figure that the 20% pays for our gratuity.

Okay I was a bit confused when I visited this site and checked out what they had to say about the DDE pass:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/discounts/discounts-ap.htm

While it says 20% at over 70 restaurants...it then throws in several paragraphs about particular restaurants and only 10% for up to 4 guests at certain places.

Is that really the case? Because as a DVC member, we get those discounts anyway so now I'm wondering if it's really worth the extra $50 if I'm already getting discounts in dining with through my DVC membership.

Thank youn for bringing this up. I was very confused about this also. That's why I haven't called for DDE yet. If anyone can shed some light on this subject for us, I would appreciate it.

OK, re-read the WDWINFO page.

DISNEY DINING EXPERIENCE

The initial paragraphs are about the DDE (20% at over 70 participating restaurants).

Then it says RESORT & THEME PARK DINING

These are lunch discounts for AP holders for up to 4 people, it is an AP perk, and has nothing to do with the DDE. Some of those restaurants, like Portabello and Fulton's don't accept the DDE at all.

Thanks Chuck, I get it now. One more question-one you receive the AP's and/or the DDE's, do you get any kind of paperwork with it, so we can keep it all straight?

When you activate your AP, you will receive a sleeve to keep your AP in. That sleeve will have a list of AP discounts. When you receive the DDE cards in the mail, you will also get a list of participating restaurants for that program.
