If we are staying at a deluxe resort can we use our DDE card to get free valet parking for our entire stay? Or is that just fro visiting other resorts for dining. I understand that we would still have to tip>

I have the brochure in my hand here.. this is what it says about complimentary parking with the DDE card...

>>>Complimentary parking is available if the DDE member enters the WDW Resort and Theme park for a short period of time for the sole purpose of dining. This priviledge will only be extended to one vehicle/card.

For theme park dining the DDE member should pay parking at the Theme Park toll booth; then after dining, present dining receipt and parking ticket to GR at the theme park for a refund.

When dining at a WDW resort, valet parking is also complimentary. This priviledge will only be extended to one car per membership card. Presenting a dining receipt at the Valet Stand ipon retrieving your vehicle is required.

That's all it says about complimentary parking so I am thinking that it will not work for your length of stay.

Sorry, that's the way I read it too. I have used the DDE card for valet parking many times, but only when going to a restaurant to eat. It would not be valid for your length of stay.

When we bought the card last month at DTD the CM said free valet parking at any of the resorts. Not true, we went to AK twice and POLY once and we were always told no free valet. We checked with everyone and everyone said the same thing, no valet....so the DTD CM was incorrect

I wonder if something changed. We valeted at both resorts in the past with no problems.

Who did you ask? We usually show our card when we pick up the car.

Yes, that does not sound right. All you should need is your DDE card and a receipt for your meal. Then valet parking is free.

We used the DDE card to valet park while dining at Jiko on 3/27/08 without any problem at all.

However, PP's are right - it's intended just for the time that you are dining, it's not to be used for valet parking for the length of stay at your resort. (Or even for a day at the parks, though I have heard of people trying to abuse the system like that)

I showed my DDE card to the waiter, the valet dude, the valet desk, the conceirge. I told them what was said to me when I bought the card and they said that was not correct. It cost me the first time but the other 2 times we just parked ourself and inquired about the free valet.

We showed the card as we parked and that was it. Strange that it didn't work for you - I believe that the DTD CM was right and the valet was wrong in your case. (I am not surprised that the waiter or even concierge didn't know but the people at the valet counter certainly should have)

We used it in October many times without any problem also, I am just using the March example because it's the most recent and therefore more relevant time wise.

Sorry that they wouldn't honor it for you MickeyNicki

Bummer MickeyNicki, but the CMs at those resorts were wrong :(.

I just called up the DDE phone number and the CM told me that valet parking was still included. I relayed your story about going to AKL for dinner and not being able to valet for free. She did say that if you were staying at AKV you wouldn't be able to valet for free, but if you were just dining there you should have been able to.

Well I learn so much more on this board than the people at WDW can tell ya! Luckily I only paid for valet once at the AKL but when we go back in Oct and decide to drive to any resorts for dinner, which I am sure we will, I will make it a point to push the issue.

We always flash the DDE when we drop it off. They actually give us a different ticket for DDE than for regular valet.

Never tried to valet for very long, once we had breakfast at kona, and went to the MK for a couple of hours. Never hurts to show your card and ask, worst thing they'll say is no.

Same here, one of our favorite perks of the card. Last trip we saved $40 in valet charges alone.

I was given a hard time about the free valet parking at the Wilderness Lodge last year. I knew I was supposed to get it for free, but it was like pulling teeth. I did finally get it taken care of, but it wasn't the simple thing I thought it would be. I have no idea why they don't know about this deal with the DDE card, but not every valet stand seems to know about it. I was told that the valet parking is not run by Disney (it is an outside vendor?), so that's why they didn't want to honor the discount. I have no clue if this is true. Anyone know?

I agree - not all the valets seem to be aware of this. I am a bit anal and I carry the desription from the package information in my handbag and whip it out if there are any questions as to the valet cost.;)

I think I will be much more forceful (with a smile) when we go in Oct. :cloud9:

I believe most of the problems ARE because of the outsourcing of valet parking. There was a time last year when they "honored" the DDE valet parking privilege at the valet stands--and then they added the $10.00 valet charge to your resort bill!! Apparently they were scanning the WDW resort parking passes. Don't recall hearing this happening recently, so I assume at least THAT little problem is cleared up.

We had no issues valet at the AKL or the WL for dinners in January. We were staying at the Swan but when we plulled up to valet for your dinners the valet asked if we were DVC or DDE members as I got out and I just showed them my card and off we went. Showed the receipt on pickup and no problem. The issue comes in if you are already valeting at a Disney deluxe and therefore you are paying the $10 a night at your resort. You do not get the night for free just because you go over to the WL for dinner, as an example.
