DDE and Disney Dining Plan...

I have a very silly question... I have already booked Disney Deluxe Dining Plan for my honeymoon in December. I'm also a Florida Resident and my parents just gave me a DDE card, because my dad was offered them at work...

Question is... can I use both together or is it the same thing?

They are not the same thing, but you should be able to use them together. If you want to order something that is not included in your meal plan, you can have the DDE discount on the part of your meal that you actually have to pay for. Since you have the deluxe dining plan, you already get lots of food, but if you want more you could use the DDE to get a discount on it.

You can use DDE to get 20% off alcoholic beverages at participating restaurants, if you wish to order them. They are not included on the dining plan.

Any use of the DDE will have an 18% gratuity added to that portion of the bill, unless at one of the few counter service restaurants that take DDE.

So then would it be worth it to use just on alcoholic beverages if there is 18% gratuity on them? Is the DDE useful at Pleasure Island in the clubs?

No, just the restaurants and resort/park lounges. But DDE can be used to purchase Pleasure Island admission tickets for half price.

Depends on how much of a gratuity you'd generally pay a bartender. If you use DDE for drinks, you will get 20% off, but you will be paying an 18% gratuity. If you are used to paying no gratuity at all, that's not much of a discount. Any other value would depend on the amount you would generally tip.

Thanks for all your replies! I have another DDP question... when I reserved our room and made reservations for DDp with our annual passes I made it for just basic dining plan then I upgraded to deluxe... I saw that basic dining came with vouchers for mini golf, and other discounts for entertainment. I was wondering does deluxe have the same stuff included or more... I know it comes with a refillable mug per person, but any other extras?

Also, what is the difference in price between deluxe and premium?

But aren't you charged 18% on your Dining Plan meal anyway? And I assume that if you order non-dining plan things, they aren't going to deduct those before calculating the tip are they?

In other words....

$100 food covered by dining plan
$20 food not convered by dining plan (use DDE to bring it to $16)

But the required tip would be on the $120 wouldn't it?

Premium I don't know the price, but it is 3 meals (any combination of TS/CS) including appetizers, extra snack, mug and tickets to several things like Cirque de Soleli and some others. (Sorry I don't remember the details it was definitely too much food/money for us)

But a party of 2 would not be required to tip 18% on th e DDP--that is discretionary.

If the billing procedure is the same as it used to be you'd get a bill for the $20-20% ($16) tax on $16.00 and tip based on the $20

total w/out DDE $24.90, total with DDE $20.64

The grat on the DDP portion should not be automatically added unless the party is greater than 5.

I was told by Disney reservations that there is no disticntion. For example, if I eat breakfast at a counter service and then pay for my own lunch out of pocket and then go to Cali Grill and use two credits, then that's my three for the day. Or another example, if I eat at Chef Mickeys, Flame tree bbq, and Le cellier on one day all my three credits are used...

Am I getting it? Is that what you were trying to say?

I think I got it! So, for deluxe package and you want signature dining it's two credits, but with premium it's only one for signature?

Also, premium is like $140 per night per adult.... wow!

however premium also includes recreation (golf, watersports, boats, most tours, tickets to Cirque, horseback riding). It really isn't meant to be just a dining plan. Other food perks to Premium (and platinum) is that room service also counts as just one credit, and at the dinner shows (again 1 credit) you can get category 1 seating.
