DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Mrs. Icredible for the win. Mr. Incredible might kick your **** though.
Might be worth the butt whipping.

I pointed out VBR and HHI, although we've only been to HHI once as it a difficult booking at 7 months out. Two great resorts for what you would pay at a holiday inn, dues.
I have a feeling VBR might be our go to now. We've only been to HH once also. Both are small resorts, but I like VB more.

Will say the beach at HH was nicer except for the orange feet from all the sand dollars

We had a nice, relaxing stay. It was pretty windy but we got to visit part of that province we hadn't spent any time before, had a nice lobster supper and a round of golf. Live going to PEI.
Sounds pretty great. Never been to PEI. Will some day.

Morning all. Hardly any rain here, and no wind. I packed up all the outside furniture though, which was why it didn't hit here.
Sounds about right. Likely if you didn't pack up the furniture, you would have had a gale of wind.

We're getting what's left of Laura here today. So far it's not even rain, more of a heavy drizzle. Surprisingly, not a breath of wind, which is strange. Things may change as the day progresses, but no impact here so far.

ust at Costco. On a Saturday. What a zoo.
I made that mistake once. I walked out without buying anything.
I decided I would rather eat cracker crumbs and mayonnaise for supper than fight my way to the back of that zoo for a bit of chicken.
If I go to Costco at all now, I do it on my week off on a Tuesday morning around 10am. Slightly less crazy then.

Morning chaps from an overcast London. Back from the SW coast, moody weather but a pretty good time. As with others, I could go back and read stuff but, you know, meh. Hopefully all is well in the disdad universe and the Bacon and Beer is in plentiful supply.
Bank holiday here tomorrow, so Harry Potter Lego on the Xbox may be calling for me and the Lady K and a write off as a lazy day, after I've been to the supermarket (not Costco, not on a weekend, no sir) for some dinner.

Have a great day y'all

Morning All.

We've had the better part of a day of light rain which was much needed. Much better than the torrential downpours last Tuesday. Still could use a bit more.

Watched a boring F1 race this morning, too may of these races end up looking like parades. F1 needs something to make this more competitive.

Soccer game later tonight, other than that it should be a quiet day. Have a great Sunday all.

Morning folks.
Nice easy 5K this morning. Ran with the kid, (DD23) so it was about 3 minutes slower than my slowest time. Never thought I'd say any of that.

I made that mistake once. I walked out without buying anything.

Didn't have much choice. I was taking my Dad for a hearing test and that's when the appointment was. While he was doing that, I grabbed 3-4 items. I use the self-checkout too, which is wayyyyyy faster than the normal checkouts. Even still... it wasn't quick or fun or easy. I'll stick to weekdays.
Morning chaps from an overcast London. Back from the SW coast, moody weather but a pretty good time.
Welcome back.
Bank holiday here tomorrow
Ours is next week. Always the 1st Monday of September.
(not Costco, not on a weekend, no sir)
::yes::

I'll be watching that later today or tomorrow. Thanks for the warning, but... I've grown used to that. I much prefer Indy. Watched an exciting race yesterday. Today is race 2 of the double header at St. Louis.

Morning all. Boards are still hinky this morning, so I'll be posting and leaving it. It's full of pop ups. Randall must have been posting about those Russian mail order brides again.

Morning folks

just at Costco. On a Saturday. What a zoo.

How was it?

They should give you an award.

I think the award was not having a tornado.

Might be worth the butt whipping.

I've had a butt whooping for less than elastic goodness.

We did collect some beautiful, intact sand dollars from our HHI trip. You never knew how much they smelled when you pack them back home. I bleached them, and still have them.

We had a nice, relaxing stay. It was pretty windy but we got to visit part of that province we hadn't spent any time before, had a nice lobster supper and a round of golf. Live going to PEI.

Lobster is terrific. Are the prince Edward island mussels better locally?

Sounds about right. Likely if you didn't pack up the furniture, you would have had a gale of wind.

Maybe you were the one that got all our forecasted rain. Sorry.

Classic effort on reading back posts. Good to have you back.

Morning, Gents! Well, another Monday and anothe work week, unless you're @AirGoofy then it's...wait, today is your first day of retirement, right? Wanted to make sure I got that right. Either way, Congratulations. Well, had a good weekend. Spent Saturday inside as it was raining all afternoon. The DD was watching her cartoons and I was cleaning and organizing. The kitchen floor is more than halfway done, so and we were able to put some stuff back in the kitchen, so that meant I could organize some stuff....so that's what I did Saturday. Sunday I grabbed the kid and drove down to Chatham to look around. I've always wanted to take some pictures of the lighthouse, which is a fully functioning lighthouse ran by the Coast Guard.

I don't mind booking FP and ADR for the first half of the day, but we often go back to the resort for a midday break, and then decide where to go in the evening, if we even go anywhere. Pre-booking every single thing for the entire day will make a WDW trip too restrictive for me.
I'm sure I will end up in WDW again eventually, but I may take less trips and decide to spend my vacation dollars elsewhere.

I've not had the pleasure of going down to the World since the FP went electronic, so I can't comment on that, however, for me part of what I love doing when I head down is wondering around and jumping on a ride/attraction when I feel like it. The thought of having to plan everything out doesn't sound fun at all. I like some spontaneity during my trips.

I hope we can still do attractions without a reservation. But, the new system isn't letting you reserve two parks for thr same day. Maybe it will after COVID. I also didn't enjoy the ADR system. I had to walk by the check in desk, not speak, pull up link on QR code or reservation, register on my phone and wait for a text. If I wanted QS, even a beer, at some places, I had to scan the code, pull up the menu, stand outside, order, pay, then wait to be let in to walk up front and pick up beer.

That's not fun. Although I didn't do it often, I did enjoy going to a different park in the evening.

I'M hoping they will unlock park system after COVID, but it does permit them to keep scheduling better. My concern would be planning it a day ahead as just to an "on the fly" decision while in the park.

I'm hoping that they unlock the system after Covid as well. I'm not looking to go right away, but it'd be nice that when I did go it'd be back to some form of normal.

Happy Friday Dads! Wind is picking up here with tornado and flash flood watches already in place for basically the rest of the day.

 Hope everyone was safe.

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:
Too funny. Not enough emojis to cover this.

:rotfl2:

Yeah, although it's (used to be) easier for me to just hop over and do whatever, I can imagine when you travel that far, you don't want every little detail to be planned out...it's a vacation for crying out loud...shouldn't be that much WORK.

^ This! I tried telling the wife about the FP's and ADR's and how to maximize your time down there. Her response, "I don't want every minute of my vacation planned." While I agreed with her and told her that I planned on a few rides that I knew I wanted to ride, the rest of the time was spent meandering around and deciding on the fly what I wanted to do. Because for me, that's the best part of Disney, wondering around and looking at things and deciding in the moment what I wanted to do. Not having it all planned out for me.

To echo above, happy retirement Norm.

For me, it's Monday #13 in a row. But that means tomorrow is my Friday! And then 7 Saturdays, which means I am also off for the long weekend...of course I would be off whether it's a holiday or not, but DW is also off for 3 days, so we're probably heading out to my in-laws for a couple days.

Weather didn't turn out too bad here yesterday, dark and gloomy all day with a steady, but not heavy, rain. It's been a fairly dry summer so the rain was needed. So far the weather is looking decent for my week off so I'll have to take advantage of that.

Morning All and happy retirement Norm.

Had to go back to work today and the office is just where I left it, car even knew the way.

Have a good one all.

Morning folks.

Happy retirement Norm. Take a seat. Stay there for a few days.

Totally crappy night’s sleep last night. Think I dozed off around 4:30 and slept fitfully until 6:30. Then on and off for another hour. Then forced myself to stay in bed another 30 minutes before giving up.

I've always wanted to take some pictures of the lighthouse, which is a fully functioning lighthouse ran by the Coast Guard.
Cool!
For me, it's Monday #13 in a row. But that means tomorrow is my Friday!
Today’s my third Saturday. Tomorrow is Sunday. Wednesday evening is my Monday morning.
we're probably heading out to my in-laws for a couple days.
My condolences

Morning all. Today feels a bit more magical. Heading into the office for thr last time, zoom meeting turning in computer, and walking out.

PEI mussels are fantastic and the mussels served with the meal were the best I have ever had.

I've had the PEI mussels a few times and always enjoyed them. I figured they were even better right in that location. Fresh seafood is amazing, especially when prepared well. It hurts my soul everytime youngest orders snow crab legs while we are eating at a restaurant in the Florida.

Happy Monday and happy retirement Norm!

Thanks

For 16 days. Then, it's called a second career?

just at Costco. On a Saturday. What a zoo.

I swear I get more road rage trying to navigate a shopping cart through Costco than I ever do on the highways.

I have a feeling VBR might be our go to now. We've only been to HH once also. Both are small resorts, but I like VB more.

Interesting. I've never been to VBR, but really loved HH when I visited.

Watched a boring F1 race this morning, too may of these races end up looking like parades. F1 needs something to make this more competitive.

::yes:: My boys have really gotten into F1 so I've tried to watch it with them in order to do the good dad thing. But I lost count of how many times the race finished in just about the exact order that it started.

I've always wanted to take some pictures of the lighthouse, which is a fully functioning lighthouse ran by the Coast Guard.

Nice! Lighthouses are always cool.

For me, it's Monday #13 in a row.

Ew.

But that means tomorrow is my Friday! And then 7 Saturdays, which means I am also off for the long weekend..

Awesome!

so we're probably heading out to my in-laws for a couple days.

Ew.

Today’s my third Saturday. Tomorrow is Sunday. Wednesday evening is my Monday morning.

Who's on first?

Morning all. Today feels a bit more magical. Heading into the office for thr last time, zoom meeting turning in computer, and walking out.

Beautiful. Congratulations, Norm.
